You mean like Hezekiah as described in Isaiah 38?If God knows all, we certainly have an unchangeable date with death. If we can change that, God is not God not knowing all.
Its kind of like asking vAn God make a rock so big He can't pick it up?".If God knows all, we certainly have an unchangeable date with death. If we can change that, God is not God not knowing all.
They're just north of South Carolina, and they're there because God drove them out...just north of Eden (Genesis 3, SC version).Never heard of them.
Oh, they were escaping the 13th plague, SC style mustard infused BBQ.They're just north of South Carolina, and they're there because God drove them out...just north of Eden (Genesis 3, SC version).
How can God sustain anything he does not approve of?
“Just as no one has power over the wind to restrain it, so no one has power over the day of his death. Just as no one can be discharged during the battle, so wickedness cannot rescue the wicked.” (Ecclesiastes 8:8) (NET)Would He approve of suicide? There is no doubt he knows it's going to happen
Not at all, if you teach God anything new, his knowledge was not true, nor perfect. Its kind of like asking vAn God make a rock so big He can't pick it up?".
Jesus left us an example to follow. It's your assertion that any act of self defense means we lack faith in God's plan that is the problem.
You missed it.Not at all, if you teach God anything new, his knowledge was not true, nor perfect.
How can God be God if you determine what happens to you? “Surely, no one knows his appointed time! Like fish that are caught in a deadly net, and like birds that are caught in a snare— just like them, all people are ensnared at an unfortunate time that falls upon them suddenly.” (Ecclesiastes 9:12) (NET)You missed it.
If self defense was so abhorrent, why would Jesus use a parable about a strong, armed man?Jesus left us an example to follow.
“For to this you were called, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving an example for you to follow in his steps. He committed no sin nor was deceit found in his mouth. When he was maligned, he did not answer back; when he suffered, he threatened no retaliation, but committed himself to God who judges justly.” (1 Peter 2:21–23) (NET)
Plus, there is not one instance of any NT believer defending themselves violently.
My first guess would be to communicate spiritual truth to our carnal minds? If self defense was so abhorrent, why would Jesus use a parable about a strong, armed man?
God ALLOWS man a degree of "freedom."How can God be God if you determine what happens to you? “Surely, no one knows his appointed time! Like fish that are caught in a deadly net, and like birds that are caught in a snare— just like them, all people are ensnared at an unfortunate time that falls upon them suddenly.” (Ecclesiastes 9:12) (NET)
God used the threat of death to move Hezekiah into a good relationship and then healed him.
If a doctor tells you to place a lump of figs on a wound or else you will die, would you comply?
“In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz came to him, and said unto him, Thus saith the Lord, Set thine house in order; for thou shalt die, and not live.” (2 Kings 20:1) (KJV 1900)The fact is that Hezekiah had a date with death set by God. God changed that after Hezekiah pleaded with him.
“In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz came to him, and said unto him, Thus saith the Lord, Set thine house in order; for thou shalt die, and not live.” (2 Kings 20:1) (KJV 1900)
“Turn again, and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus saith the Lord, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of the Lord.” (2 Kings 20:5) (KJV 1900)
This happens every day when God heals us.
“And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.” (James 5:15) (KJV 1900)
Wow. LOLOLOLOLJesus needed to be numbered among the transgressors to fulfill prophecy. So they had two swords that identified them as transgressors. And Peter underscored it when he cut off Malchus' ear, to Jesus' rebuke and dismay.
I'm told of a Centurion who was a man great faith. Bet that sword was out a time or two.So you cannot think of any examples of NT believers using violence to defend themselves?
