How far does this building have to be from "ground zero" to satisfy those who object to it being built where the current plans have it?
If you were a relative, how far would it have to be?

Yes, these people have a right to a worship center. But to build it near ground zero is INCREDIBLY insensitive. And people who don't see that - I don't get it.
Not just Obama -- how can the mayor of New York City be so supportive?Bingo.
How hard was that to put into words?
Is Obama too stupid to formulate a cogent policy such as above--or too in love with muslims and/or PC to care?
Or would you assert that the fire department responding to a fire in the church building is some sort of government intrusion into religious freedom too?
If you were a relative, how far would it have to be?
I'm not objecting to it. I want to know from those those who object, relative or not, how far is far enough in their minds.
What do you think is the intention of those building the mosque?
I really don't know, and I really don't care.
I support private property rights. I thought that conservatives did, too, but apparently I may be mistaken in that.
Now, can you answer my question?

I understand the organization behind this $100 million dollar Mosque is called the Cordoba Initiative. The Mosque is to be called the Cordoba House. Where did the name come from? The Cordoba region of Spain, that's where. When the Muslims conquered Spain they took a huge Christian cathedral and turned it into the Cordoba Mosque. So the very group planning this Mosque at Ground Zero is named after a Mosque built at the scene of a pervious Muslim conquest.
There are other such mosques:
There are reports that our wonderful Muslim friends plan to open this Mosque next year on September 11, 2011? The 10th anniversary of their murder of 3000 people. Now that's some rather incredible timing, don't you think? Wait for another 9/11 and open a Mosque.
- When Muslims conquered they built the Al-Aqsa Mosque
- When Muslims conquered Constantinople (now Istanbul) they transformed the St. Sophia Basilica into a Mosque
I don't see where Obama, in this statement, said he supported the Muslim faith (at least not anymore than President Bush did).
For all who do not oppose the mosque in the vicinity of Ground Zero - would you object to the Klu -Klux Klan from opening a headquarters next to the NAACP
I think Ken is just showing off how "enlightened" he is.
No, I would not object to such building. Private property rights are private property rights. I don't base my support for private property rights based on the views of those who want to place a building on their property.
That's bad form, and everyone knows it.
Can't you distinguish between someone having the "right" to build, and someone having sensitivity to build somewhere else?
Very few folks here are asking for government infringements of their right to build. I'm not.
But come on...a mosque? Where it happened? Opening on September 11?
Give me a break. That's bad form, and everyone knows it.

It will not be on the ground where "it happened".
Okay, so you folks complaining know you can't stop it from being built, and you don't want to stop it from being built because you believe in property rights. Right? If so, then we agree.
