I gave examples. Give me examples of where he advocated war, industrial profits ... show me where he exhibits conservatism in his day and time.
You opinion is your opinion. Show me scripture to back you Jesus being conservative.
Attempting to make Jesus a right-wing capitalist is heresy .. and that is what many in this country try to do and defend.

Scripture is full of threats of war, blood to the bridles, swords, pestulence, mass graves....Old and New testaments, with Christ himself chiming in. Only a liar would say otherwise.

Start reading with Genius 1:1 where Jesus, the Word, created the world and continue throughout the total record of God's written revelation to us until you come to Revelations 22:21. In it you will find many examples were He did, in fact, permit or direct war, require judgment among men, establish various institutions to provide for our needs according to His plan, and set out the examples and guidelines which we are to follow in our walk on this earth.
He did not contradict Himself in any of it but He said a whole lot more that the few verses Crabtownboy just quoted. His teachings during His incarnation as man apply but so does the entirety of the rest of His written record each according to the situation and the age. Mercy, judgment, discipline, pardon, etc. are all elements of His plan. All scripture must be understood relative to all other scripture. It is much too easy to pull out one verse and built an entire case around it while disregarding the rest of the story.
I don't like to categorize our Lord by what are essentially our definitions of various political persuasions for He is far above all that. It brings fear to my mind because of who He is compared to me. Never the less, I must say the God is by His nature very conservative - the ultimate conservative - in one sense of the word because He is the same today as He was and will be for eternity past and future and He, in the person of the Father, has no tolerance for sinfulness to the extent that He, in the person of the Son, had to die and be resurrected to atone for it all. He does not need to "change" to accomplish His sovereign will.

Jesus was not a liberal. Jesus was not a conservative. Jesus cared nothing for politics and showed this again and again. To place a political label on Jesus is demeaning at the least and blasphemous at the worst. Please stop, this is the Son of God we are talking about, the same one who said His kingdom was not of this world. The same one who left when the people were going to take Him by force and make Him a king. Quit trying to equate him to humanistic polical ideals.
In terms of the cultural thought of his time and also of many in our time he was definitely liberal. He made statements that went directly against the thought of his day and of ours. His actions were also liberal, both for his time and ours. Look beyond politics and at his life.

Remember his words in Matthew how he would know who were his at the judgement. Jesus was always pushing people beyond their confort zones.
All these were radical statements for his culture as well as for many in our own culture. None of us have caught up with where Jesus was or is in his thinking.
We, you, me, all of us have to use human terms in our discussions of Jesus. Human words are all we have. It is too bad we are so limited in this way.

Give it up CTB. Curits and his ilk worship conservatism and and corporate America. It does not matter how many proofs you offer that in His day, Jesus would have been considered a liberal, they will not stand for it.
People who are honest know that you are speaking the truth, but these liberal-haters cannot admit it or they would have to do some serious thinking about how they view Jesus, and again, this is something they will doubtful ever do.

Thanks for your kind words. I understand and agree with what you are saying. I learned early on that what you say is correct. My first thought was to simply not post on the board ... then I thought about it and determined that I should continue to post and to continue speaking the truth of Jesus and what he taught. That some do not agree, yea they rale against the idea of a Christ who taught peace and love of neighbor, is not surprising.

Jesus is the Lord God Almighty! His message while on this earth was powerful but did not take away anything the rest of His written revelation to man that we can read in the entirety of the Holy Bible.
He is the same Lord he directed that Israel go and take Midian leaving none alive except the virgins who were to be taken captive. He is the same Lord who established the institution of civil government and empowered it to carry and use the sword of justice among men. He is the same Lord who by His great Providence established and sustains this nation in which we enjoy great liberty and exercise justice. He is the same Lord who laid out the rules for Kings and slaves alike. He is the same Lord under whose judgment we experience physical death. He is the same Lord who will return for judgment of all the world and will cast all unbelievers into an entirety in Hell.
My challenge is good for you, too, dragonfly. Show me where my intepretation is wrong. And show me my worship of corporate America. And go ahead and deny to me Christ promised war when he returned.
I have thought long and hard about who Christ was. He was no liberal.
It is your statement. Back it up with proof ... in context.

Although I was saved in a right-wing church, it didn't take long to see that there main emphasis was antithetical to what Jesus taught.
Just look here, bring up Jesus being the Prince of Peace, and immediately someone points to the slaughter that took place in the Old Testament. That speaks volumes!

Not only was Jesus a liberal in His day, but if He was alive in person on earth today, he would be considered a liberal by most right-wing Baptists.
Really What would be his position on abortion ? Gay marriage ? Welfare ?
