Which Bible translations on the list of eight do you use?

Only the KJV and the NKJV?

The KJV. But there are times when I use the others plus some that are not on that list.

The advantage of the NKJV is it identifies where the KJV differs from the majority text (M) or critical text (NU).
The major advatage of the KJV are two. The KJV mostly follows the common reading of the Greek texts. And you do not have to know and look up the Hebrew or Greek to know if a pronoun is plural or singular. Ye you and your are always plural and thee, thou, thy and thine are singular.

Once we get saved we can start understanding the word written by the Spirit. The Word must be spiritually discerned. I just stick with the KJV. Anything that is changed or removed could change the meaning. There is much in God’s Word that I don’t understood, so I ask God for wisdom. God reveals in his time what he wants me to know. We have to search it like hidden treasure. We can ask ten people about a scripture and get 10 opinions, the Holy Spirit guides us in truth so we’re not mislead.

I recommend that anyone interested in using the KJV, especially for Bible-study, to obtain a copy of the AV 1611, the ORIGINAL KJV, complete with its preface & all its extratextual material, including the Apocrypha. I have a Hendrickson repro AV that has all the title pages with illustrations, & all the extratextual materials. the only differences between it & a genuine original is the physical size & the repro uses Roman font insteada the Gothic font of the genuine item. It cost $30 at Wal-Mart seven years ago.

For a "modern" KJV, I have a genuine Cambridge Edition. It was $139 in US dollars several years back, but worth every penny if you like the KJV.

Technical note, the original 1611 was not the AV. That wasn't until over 100 years later.

First, that's not why it is being translated into modern English so you might want to change that argument.

If two versions say different things, then something is left out. My uneducated grandparents used the KJV and had a great understanding of what it said because they had to pray and trust God for guidance and wisdom. We have google and spend more time googling to get an understanding than praying and asking God for wisdom. Google will give you mans opinions, God reveals truth. And God has the power to get the gospel to other parts of the world. Look at the day of Pentecost for example.

Modern versions do not alter the Greek text as you seem to be assuming here, as they just do not see the original text including all of that as in the TR!

the Kjv was an attempt to revise and update into English versions such as the Geneva and Bishop Bibles, and even the Kjv translators saw that their edition would need to be updated and revised over time! they did not see it as being fixed and final word, as being a perfect translation!

Example:

Option 1: The bear was big.
Option 2: The bear was large.

What was left out? Nothing. Do they say different things? Yes. Does it change the message? Absolutely not.

1. How do you know your uneducated grandparents (as you called them) had a GREAT understanding of what it said and meant?
2. How do you know people reading a modern translation don't?

God gave us faithful teachers to help expound the word. Looking to what other men have said about Scripture doesn't somehow lessen your faith or somehow say you are not as connected with God for wisdom and guidance.

Which do you tend to advise people (in general) they ought to avoid utilizing (if any):

KJV
NKJV
ESV
NASB
CSB
NET
NIV
NLT

All of the above, with the addition of the WEB and LEB are good for comparison bibles, however as a primary study bible, I would only recommend the NKJV, NASB, WEB and LEB.

My favorite primary, of course, is the NASB. And my favorite comparison bible is the NET.
