According to an ABC reporter in Ohio, they are STILL VOTING in several counties, including Knox County, and a county near Kenyon College. Long lines, presumably with folks filling out lots of provisional ballots.

How is this legal?

Yes. Bush is still planning a victory speech tonight, as soon as New Mexico or Nevada is called for Bush.

That's what I'm waiting for.

It sounds like President Bush will declare "unilateral victory" tonight!

The Irish media are VERY downbeat - just saw an interview with reps from Republicans Abroad and Democrats Abroad - major difference in demeanor.

If you add the 5 Nevada votes that every network has given Bush that has not given him Ohio you have 274.

Final tally (wait and see)
Bush 286
Kerry 252

Looks like a clear, clean victory to me, Roger, riding on a very high turn out. A good day for American democracy all round, a bad day for the lawyers!

Yours in Christ

I fell asleep so not sure of the parts you're talking about, but I'm assuming it's legal because voters weren't getting a chance to vote for reasons that shouldn't have happened. For example, a number were VERY upset over being given provisional ballots at the polls when they were in the right precinct, and THAT isn't exactly right. (they ran out of real ballots or too long lines or something or both or whatever)
There was something filed in court also over the provisional ballots.
Anyhow, since it was government error keeping people from voting in most places, it aught to be legal to allow them to go ahead and do it.

Plus for the first time since his daddy the US will have a majority president.

If the Dems start playing games with lawyers, there are 5-6 close states where the Reps need to call them in as well, Pennsylvania for starts. There is a smaller difference in there than there is on Ohio.

I think it will be over before the weekend.

That's still before the weekend ;) .

Congrats to President Bush. Although I had to vote my conscience I am happy with the result

Am looking forward to seeing all my Irish friends who phoned last night smug and confident of a Kerry win.
