Pelosi is Brilliant

She says, "I think the Bush presidency did great harm to America, with this war, with the enormous budget deficits, the challenges to the Constitution of the United States, the financial crisis that we are in." (http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=30216).

Then she proposes $825 billion in stimulus spending.

What a complete buffoon. If the enormous budget deficits did "great harm to America," how is increasing them going to help?

This shows that she is purely about politics. She is absolutely contradictory.

"Brilliant" was (hopefully) obviously sarcasm. One has to be pretty brazen to even try to pull this off.

It is brillant! She, in effect, is saying 'let's pass this now, like we have all the other additional spending and bailout programs (under 'my watch') while the Bush Presidency can be blamed. Incidentally, its funny that she refers to the 'challenges to the Constitution of the United States.' Much of the major legislation, which some feel is challenging the Constitution and our rights, was also passed on her watch. Didn't she take an oath to uphold the Constitution and to defend it against all enemies, foreign and domestic? As house speaker, she should be leading the house and challenging all non-conforming legislation!

For that matter, even the war for which Bush gets all the blame it seems, was passed by a bipartisan Congress though it took place before she became speaker.

I fully got the sarcasm. But I'm also somewhat brazen at times, myself. ;)

Not bad!

Although I was thinking more in terms of a pile of rocks, personally.

The Clinton administration beat those war drums for years.

How much longer before the witch hunt begins? The blame game will soon turn into a criminal investigation.

This $825 Billion is going to help people in this country instead of all the money we spent rebuilding Iraq while they sat on their cash.

Why don't we just have the government write each real tax payer a check for their prorated share of the $825 billion? I'll bet we could do more good with it than they will. We'd still have to pay it back to ourselves but it would be under our control.

Why don't we just shut down Congress for a few years and we could probably pay off the national debt a few times over. Send all those pork masters back home to work for a living for a while figuring out how to earn and spend their own money instead of stealing from everyone else.

Yeah, and if you believe that I have a bridge for sale...

The Rich will get it, and get richer... while the needy we will always have with us.

Wanna boost the economy.. divide up the $825 billion with every tax paying citizen instead of giving it to rich people.

I'm all for dividing up the $825 Billion but I don't want to pay it back. It would sure beat they $500 or $1000 the promised to give us.

Excellent ... Since we did some bad things with money, let's do some more bad things with money and see if two bad things become one good thing. Great ...

This will add huge tax burdens on future generations. It is a bad idea.'

But the point is that it is especially hypocritical, coming from Pelosi who complained about the budget deficits under Bush.

If I bought too much house for my money, or got an ARM that inevitably adjusted, etc., I have no right to your money.

This giveaway is fiscally irresponsible (not just the mortgage thing, but all facets of the boondoggle). It also sets a horrible precedent.

Get ready for Carter-like inflation. And thank your government for it.

Also...just think of how flawed your premise is:

"Hey...I've blown too much money in one part of my budget. To get even, I'm going to blow more money in another part of my budget."

Another paragon of intelligence, Henry Waxman, is proposing climate change policies that would wreck our economy for decades. Nothing like ruining a country with policies based on junk science.

Isn't there some country we can send this loser to?

Our infrastructure in this country is in need of huge expenditures. This stimulus program will help.

We need more monuments to the grandeur of government like we need the plague! We also don't need any huge expenditures which will require huge taxes. We need huge reductions in the skimming of productivity by government. The latest tax and spend program - mislabeled "stimulus" - is only stimulating to the political pork buyers and sellers.

When Bush was spending it they condemned the debt. Now Barack Hussein (we can say that now) Obama is doing it and it is just what we need. Go figure.:tonofbricks:
