Pet Peeve on the BB

I just saw it again: someone accusing others of being Pharisees on the BB. That goes right along with the ubiquitous "legalism" charge (which is almost never really legalism by the theological definition). Really? You have to call someone a legalist or Pharisee to make your point? To me, that just means you're not good with words and have a small vocabulary. Cf: Cyrano's great list of insults in "Cyrano de Bergerac."

So, do you have a pet peeve? (And don't get nasty and name posters, because that's another pet peeve of mine.:Coffee )

One of my biggest pet peeves is when posters accuse others of having said something, and they can't put it in quotation marks.

I've said to others before - don't accuse me of having said what you interpreted my words to mean

....and....

if your representation of my words does not match verbatim how I stated it, you just might have misunderstood what I wrote.

On an equal plane with my previous pet peeve....

I really can't stand it when other posters don't take into consideration phrases such as: "From what I've seen..."

And other statements which should clearly indicate that my opinion is based entirely on my perception of scenarios I've personally observed

Mine is starting threads about pet peeves. :Wink Just kidding. Attacking usernames when one has no real defense for their position. Usernames mean little to nothing. People take themselves way to seriously. These days everything is an offense.

Pet peeves on BB.

1. Strawman arguments. Example, "you can't choose God because of your innate faith."
2. Calling someone a liberal because you can't refute their point. This applies to both political and theological discussions.
3. Putting words in someone else's mouth. Example, "you think salvation is a work done by man."

False dichotomies.

(And JoJ has inspired me to change things up, and call people I disagree with Sadducees instead. ;) )

I used it because I don't like the "H" word but sometimes it is appropriate - Friberg 05394 - An actor, stage player.

I do admit to playing the role myself with exaggerated outrage so I recognize it when I see it.

It's really gets out of hand on the news/political boards.
My excuse - I stepped into the ring and started swinging.

:Devilish

When people support and defend here the false doctrines of groups such as the church of rome, and the SDA!

Pet Peeve?
Vans. Vans are my pet peeve. They keep breaking down and whining when you try to correct the problem. [emoji57] [emoji604]

Posters who are prolific with their bad grammar. Close behind are posters who have a hard time making sense.
