You are basing your stance on the belief that the mind can get sick.

Being immaterial, the mind cannot get sick.

Its not part of the human body.....please, of course it can become sick & diseased... its flesh & flesh can be corrupted. LOL!!

Steadfasfred- As I understand your response in post #134, an individual who suffers from OCD (specifically) has need to only repent of said "sin" to be healed. Nothing else need be used in aid. Am I correct that this is your position?

I'll be honest. At this point I think you are either grossly misinformed about mental illness (in general), or you are a troll trying to keep this thread alive.

If the mind were flesh as you claim, there would be a picture of it in at least one of my medical books.

I recommend a book by Massimo Galluci, "Radiographic Atlas of Skull and Brain Anatomy.

Massimo gives pictures of every part of the human brain in his book.

Not one picture of a mind though. And for good reason... the mind is not flesh... the mind is immaterial.

Of course, the Bible also refutes your claim that the mind is flesh. It reveals that the mind is separate from the flesh.

No attempt to keep the thread alive on my account. It takes two to tango as the old saying goes.

Perhaps if so many were not constantly trying to convince me that the mind could get ill the thread would die down because I would not have anyone to refute.

And no, I am not grossly misinformed about mental illness. There is no such thing as mental illness.

That which I posted about OCD I got directly from the DSM-V website. (except for the bolded parts)

And I guarantee that if I took the time to go through the hundreds of "disorders" listed in the DSM-V and compare them with the Word of God, no doubt I would find that at least 90% of those "disorders" are because of sin or rebellion.

Well, I thought I had just about heard it all. But I guess not.

Dogs with OCD??? ROFL

Dogs do not get OCD. Dogs do what dogs were designed to do... be dogs.

Doggy psychiatrists? Just another way to bilk gullible rich folks out of their money.

Hey EWF! You're a big fat, stupid idiot and a lame excuse for a human. Not really, but I want to make a point and I know you wear your big boy pants so play along.

In most circles a person would read what I wrote and say something like, "Wow. That was rude. I bet that hurt EWF's feelings." Impossible I say!

From what I've learned here my words did not injure your brain. The cells are intact and unbruised. My words could not hurt your feelings for they are seated in your mind, not your brain. Your mind is immaterial and by extention so are my words. Were you insulted? Immaterial.

Your turn. Insult me. It's only in my mind.

Now your claiming the mind is soul & spirit? Really!?! My concept of the mind is centered in the brain which deteriorates with time & age & wear & disease.

Sticks & stones but I disagree with your concept of mind. From my prospective the mind is 100 % configured to your anatomy thereby reducing it to your brain & your physical matter.

conversely if I put a round in your skull & thru the center of your brain.....both your mind & your body would stop functioning. your soul however is another matter.

All this, yet you didn't answer the question.

Again, because you claim OCD is caused by sin, do you contend that repentance will release the sufferer from the effects of it?

you mean like the pedophile that repented? LOL Guess that would explain alcoholics too! Bizarre.

Or phrase it another way, would you say a repentant drunk and/or drug addict is free from the need to drink or drug after they repent?

The brain deteriorates with disease, but the mind does not. The mind cannot get diseased. Medical Journals attest to this.

If the mind stopped functioning as you claim, then Jesus was lying when he said the rich man recognized Abraham and Lazarus, remembered his brothers on earth, etc..

James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

1 Peter 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

No one wants to cast their cares on the Lord anymore, they'd rather cast them on a psychiatrist and hide them with mind altering drugs.

Yep, dogs get OCD. It's amazing what you can learn when you deal with mental illness in both people and animals on a regular basis.

Give it a try sometime! I've worked with mental illness for years and seen some animals with it too. Even in an elephant. Very sad.

The hardest part in dealing with it never fails to be people who refuse to accept that it is real. It makes it very hard on those with it and those who take care of them.

While this thread has been amusing in some ways, it's also very sad to know there are STILL people out there who insist that mental illness is not real and brand people (and apparently now animals too) with these issues as sinners and demonic. Yes, Jesus heals, but don't forget that he often works through physicians and the science they use in the healing arts.

Well that isnt in my medical books! Christ was referring to the soul not the mind. The soul has the attributes of the person at all times ....dead or alive while the mind is functioning along side of the body....these are two separate issues so stop trying to make them one. An individual can be bitten by a rabid animal in the woods & have his organs become diseased & "THE MIND IS AFFECTED. Rabies, old age, altseimers, diabetes & a bullet thru the head all have an effect on the function of the mind....no matter how much you say otherwise.
