The question is how does one obey God's grace? One cannot merit it. Yet one must obey God's grace.
We cannot do a thing to merit Grace,(or Mercy) but we honor God's grace by honoring Him through love not obligation. We dishonor if obey as an obligation verse love He is due
This verse always comes to mind when I hear Christians striving to earn their salvation and "help" Jesus Christ atone for their sins....
2Co 11:3
"But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ."
Obey it in what fashion? The question is how does one obey God's grace? One cannot merit it. Yet one must obey God's grace.
". . . And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. . . ." God says.
NONE have ever been saved by doing that though!Anyone who thinks there is a greater reward than Loving God and Loving Neighbor would not know what salvation was if salvation slapped them upside their head.
NONE have ever been saved by doing that though!
I was just saying saying that lovong God and your neighbor is notr the Gospel that saves!Name one person who is saved and hates God. Someone who doesn't have God as their priority is always going to have trouble getting this.
Romans 4:5.Obey it in what fashion?

The act of salvation encompasses many aspects not just forgiveness. I key in on redemption (1 Peter 1:18-19). Did God know what He was purchasing? If a believer can lose their salvation, does God have a return window to get the price back?
NONE have ever been saved by doing that though!
You are misunderstanding the purpose of our Lord's parable here. Christ is teaching about our fellowship with Him in relationship to our fellowship with our fellow brothers and sisters. Basically (how I understand it) if we do not forgive people, we will not enjoy a close relationship with God through an experiential reality of His forgiveness. In other words, our unforgiving attitude will only torment us, preventing us from not being able to walk in the joy of God's forgiveness towards us.Matthew 18
23“For this reason the kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who wished to settle accounts with his slaves. 24“When he had begun to settle them, one who owed him ten thousand talents was brought to him. 25“But since he did not have the means to repay, his lord commanded him to be sold, along with his wife and children and all that he had, and repayment to be made. 26“So the slave fell to the ground and prostrated himself before him, saying, ‘Have patience with me and I will repay you everything.’ 27“And the lord of that slave felt compassion and released him and forgave him the debt. 28“But that slave went out and found one of his fellow slaves who owed him a hundred denarii; and he seized him and began to choke him, saying, ‘Pay back what you owe.’ 29“So his fellow slave fell to the ground and began to plead with him, saying, ‘Have patience with me and I will repay you.’ 30“But he was unwilling and went and threw him in prison until he should pay back what was owed. 31“So when his fellow slaves saw what had happened, they were deeply grieved and came and reported to their lord all that had happened. 32“Then summoning him, his lord said to him, ‘You wicked slave, I forgave you all that debt because you pleaded with me. 33‘Should you not also have had mercy on your fellow slave, in the same way that I had mercy on you?’ 34“And his lord, moved with anger, handed him over to the torturers until he should repay all that was owed him. 35“My heavenly Father will also do the same to you, if each of you does not forgive his brother from your heart.”
^self explanatory
Right, and the first thing a sinner does is acknowledge that they do not "love God" and they repent of their wickedness and idolatry and turn to the living God for salvation.Jesus Christ commands it. He also states that as how to be saved.
Luke 10
25And a lawyer stood up and put Him to the test, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”26And He said to him, “What is written in the Law? How does it read to you?” 27And he answered, “YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND; AND YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.” 28And He said to him, “You have answered correctly; DO THIS AND YOU WILL LIVE.”
I am quoting Jesus Christ. I do not say Jesus is a liar. Jesus Christ is saying the truth and giving perfect advice.
Can we get an Amen for the Word of Jesus Christ?
I can back up Jesus 100%. Only those who are dissatisfied with GOD's answer look to undermine and look for loopholes.
I find it disturbing that you have encountered Christians who are striving to earn their salvation and "help" Jesus Christ atone for their sins. Do they share with you their testimony of being born-again? If they can't do that, on what basis do you conclude they are Children of God
NONE of us can do that well enough to merit God saving us though!Jesus Christ commands it. He also states that as how to be saved.
