Proper Sunday Dress

All men struggle with men's sins at a certain age or they are not men. They may not be attracted to you in pants or a low cut blouse but some woman dressed this way can tempt a man.

And some men are tempted to steal when they go into the grocery store. Should we close grocery stores?

No. They learn to suppress that desire and harness it just like we do with other sins.

I don't doubt that it happened. The first IFB church I was a member of has signs on the doors stating that women wearing pants were NOT allowed in the sanctuary.

I was too dumb to know better.

Nice. I suggest you build on Paul's example and actually read the whole Bible. I would also suggest you find a church where they preach the whole Bible. You have totally failed to consider the whole counsel of God's Word and have chosen to cherry pick your verses to meet your agenda. Your theology is a mess and your judgmental attitude shows a very real lack of maturity. This is further shown by your being unteachable. Brother, you are in a dangerous place spiritually and its very important for you to take a breath and consider if these words are true.

What do you say about women wearing their "Sunday best" and wearing jewelry in light of this verse? Taken literally, it seems to say that women should NOT wear their best clothes, should NOT wear jewelry. So why don't we hear preaching against this?

Don has already commented on 1 Tim 2:9 to your satisfaction. Lest just say for the sake of argument that pants in themselves are not a sinful garment. There is nothing unclean of itself. But if you take that garment and put it on a well developed woman and those pants become skin tight, you now have a object for a man's temptation. Christ said, but i say unto you, if a man looks on a woman to lust after her in his heart, he has already committed adultry. So if it is a christian woman that wore the pants, she is a partaker of his evil deed. You can tell a man that upholds false doctrine, God bless you and accourding to 2 john 11 you are a partaker of his false doctrine.

You can have an anorexic woman wear pants too tight as well. That's just poor judgment and poor fit. It has nothing to do with the woman's build but her taste in clothing. But again, a woman in sackcloth could be an object for a man's temptation.

No she is not. HE has already committed adultery - not her. Jesus never condemned the woman, did He? No. A man who sees something that might entice turns his gaze away. If he chooses to turn his head back, it's HIS sin, not hers.

It's true. God is still growing me to be the man He intends me to be. I am grateful for His faithfulness to complete the work He started.


That doesn't mean I'm wrong in my exhortation to you. If someone else would like to show me if/how I am wrong that would be used by God to further grow me and I would appreciate it.


If I believed as you do I could just blame you for driving me to say unkind and untrue things(assuming what I said was unkind or untrue). That's how your treating women in the realm of clothing choice.

The danger of studing theology and becoming a rank theologian is that you can rely on a system instead of scripture. It seems by all the replies to my post that you people are Antominians, without the law of Christ as a rule of life. You totally ignore any scripture that deals with man's character and conduct and just dismiss it as false doctrine. You pick and strain at knats like accusing me of putting down women. Go back and look at my post, what did i have to say about man,or mankind in general. You boast about one another and say you could not or you would not do certain things.
