bumpity-bumpJames_Newman said:2 Timothy 2: But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honor, and some to dishonor.
Is the house of God not so divided?

...only it has nothing to do with the Kingdom...Lacy Evans said:bumpity-bump
Verse 12 makes the context clear. If we suffer we will reign.
Kingdom
I have? You are telling me that both are saved!James_Newman said:One can't make a distinction between saved and unsaved in this scripture because it isn't there. You keep inserting it where it doesn't belong.
There are sanctified believers and there are unsanctified believers.
, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.but ye are sanctified
Diggin in da Word said:In Romans 15:16, Paul wrote that we are sanctified 'by the Holy Ghost'.
So, by saying that there are sanctified and unsanctified believers, one is saying that God is a respector of persons, since it is the Holy Ghost that sanctifies the believer.
Also in 1 Corinthians, we read:
1 Corinthians 6:11 11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, , but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
The saved are no longer murderers, drunkards, extortioners, etc., They are washed by the Word, sanctified by the Holy Ghost, and justified by putting on Christ and naming Him as Lord and Savior.
If any continue in the sins of Galatians 5 and 1 Corinthians 6 and do not repent of those sins, those are none of His. They are not saved.
A saved person puts on the Lord Christ and walks in newness of life, no longer entangled with the sinful flesh; although, we certainly may fall from time to time.
But, if and when we do sin, we have Christ standing in our behalf. He pleads our case before the Father.
And when He shall appear, we shall be like Him for we shall see Him as He is. If we are like Him at that point, why would He judge us unworthy to be in His Kingdom?
James, is Christ able to keep that which we have committed to Him?
Yes? or No?
But we have to put everything in it's proper context. His Blood Spoke My Name said:What have I committed unto Him? My trust that His shed blood was the atonement needed for my sins, my trust that He is faithful, that He will contine the work He has started in me, the trust that He will carry me into His kingdom, that He is true to His Word when He says He will not cast away those who have come to Him.
James_Newman said:If the verse is talking about sanctification, then the meaning is clear. The bible distinguishes between sanctified and unsanctified, vessels unto honor and vessels unto dishonor. These are members of the same household. There are sanctified believers and there are unsanctified believers. So all the shouting about dividing the body of Christ, what does it amount to? God himself makes division between believers.
In Rev 3 we see the two groups -- one as having Christ In fellowhip on the INSIDE - and the others separated from Christ with Christ on the OUTSIDE knocking.
The church at Laodicea was a church in name only. They practiced angel worship, gnosticism and judaism. Hardly qualities of a true church, hence the reason Christ "vomits" them out of His mouth. You mention the teachings of the modern church and how satan has deceived it, well this is one of those instances. Teaching on Rev. 3:20 has God rather having someone being lost or "on fire" for the Lord than in between. This is not what the text is saying. Knowledge of the aquduct system flowing into Laodicea puts this into proper perspective.J. Jump said:Bob the church is the audience there not unsaved folks. The context is the saved not the unsaved. Revelation 3 is not speaking of spiritual salvation.

webdog said:I think this is where we don't agree. You are talking only about believers. There are unsanctified unbelievers...what I believe that text to say. We (believers) are to come out of them (unbelievers) in the way we live our lives so God can use us (sanctification).
