Purgatory - bottom line - you have to "already BE a Catholic" to "go for Purgatory".

It has no basis in scripture. Nothing that recommends it to a non-Catholic who relies on exegesis. All non-Catholics can be "expected" to "reject Purgatory" as simply a "made up doctrine" - along with indulgences and the "spiritual bank of suffering" idea that was made up to keep the whole thing funding RC "projects".

Nothing in scripture mentions a "saint" being "burned" for their "sins".

The best we got from Bill - was the "TEACHING" being burned away - from the church. AND STILL that said nothing about the death of the saint being needed BEFORE that teaching "Work" could be burned away.

As a result - there is not "even a thread" of wishful thinking left for the argument for Purgatory.

The last resort is then - "you must first BE Catholic" to swallow the doctrine.

And that has proven true - time and time again.

Obviously - because in that case - the doctrine rests alone on RC stories and speculation - tradition that could only be accepted "by Catholics".
