Good grief. I started a couple of threads with this information. Don't be obtuse.

I agree Rev, but I would take it a little further. Libbies don't like anything from the Bible they cant take out of context and try to mis-apply it.
Who are "libbies?" Is it either Christian or democratic to put a large group of people into one group and assume they are all alike?
Jesus did. He even called a group "vipers." :wavey:
Matthew 3:7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to where he was baptizing, he said to them: "You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath?
Matthew 12:24-33 24But when the Pharisees heard this, they said, "It is only by Beelzebub, the prince of demons, that this fellow drives out demons."
25Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them, "Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand. 26If Satan drives out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then can his kingdom stand? 27And if I drive out demons by Beelzebub, by whom do your people drive them out? So then, they will be your judges. 28But if I drive out demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.
29"Or again, how can anyone enter a strong man's house and carry off his possessions unless he first ties up the strong man? Then he can rob his house.
30"He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me scatters. 31And so I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. 32Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.
33"Make a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad, for a tree is recognized by its fruit. 34You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks.
The Pharisees were the elite. And they denied the deity of Christ. You are being silly. There was nothing conservative about them. And you have been challenged on this before. You are the one who judges our charitable giving, you and your buddy JustChristian/Freedom/Alatide, and that action alone gives you more in common with the Pharisees than your make-believe examples.

Conservatives out give liberals from their pockets continuously. If liberals would put their money where their mouth is then there would be less poverty in the world.

You obviously understand with all correctness that you are right. The Pharisees were as lost as the day is long and had progressed the law into distortion. They were quite liberal.
You obviously don't understand that CTB is correct and you are wrong. The Pharisees were like the fundamentalist religiously. They were wrong. Politically they were like the conservatives, and they were wrong here also.
They were the ones that doubted scripture, they were the judgemental, they thought they were better than anyone else, they constantly conspired to trip up Christ with his own words.....
If they were around today, they would have jobs at MSNBC. Trying to paint them as conservative is just ridiculous. It's the conservative Christians that cling to scripture, unquestioningly.
Another thought that just occurred to me, if my interpretation was the liberal one, then it stands to reason the liberals would agree with it.
CTB, this is a stupid argument. Think what you want to.
I doubt anyone on the board would say the Pharisees were saved. But it is extremely liberal or ignorant to try to pass them off as liberals in their day and time. They would have considered Jesus a radical liberal for evening talking to the woman at the well, allowing a woman to wash his feet, etc. Please do not try to liberally twist the Bible to say what it does not say.
