Rosanne gone after one ill-advised tweet

It's the nature of our society. An apology is rarely accepted, and most often looked at as an admission of guilt.

I get the offense of the tweet, but it really bugs me that apologies are completely meaningless in this day and age. The muslim brotherhood is neither a religion of race, but a political movement. They should be fair game. But anything ape related when addressing a black American is considered racists, hence the apology.

But wouldn't we be a better society if we could stick our foot in our mouth, apologize and move on? Is it necessary we're this sensitive?

Roseanne Barr dressed as Hitler and ate “burnt Jew cookies” coming out of her oven.

I am not going to stick up for her. Her crew will not follow her. She has been let go by her reps. She is done. And she never was a conservative.

But, silver lining, now folks, who never knew who she was, are looking into her past. Valerie Jarrett is a slum lord, for one.

I think group hate is contagious, and even Christians are susceptible. Especially when accusations of racism are floating around. Rosanne's statement.

But as we all know, this will fall on deaf ears. Forgiveness is not a staple of our society. But I firmly believe MLK would have forgiven her. And I don't believe MLK would have approved of the rabid group hate that develops over any comment containing a racial element. I don't think that's the vision he had.

I'll be honest, I wasn't a big fan of her show, but I am a fan of forgiveness and would love to see our society turn the corner on this. And I'd love to see the Church lead the way. Sometimes I think the Church is leading the way in the other direction.

But did she apologize because she was truly sorry or to "smooth" things over?

She’s actually blaming it on Ambien.

It could have been a factor. Many people do things when drinking they're truly sorry about. And I've heard many stories about Ambient. Scary stuff.

I'm definitely concerned about the over-medicating of America. I'm more concern about our unforgiveness culture. I think God is too.

Hmmm. Isn't that the purpose of apologies? Too smooth things over? You can be truly sorry and say nothing and things can escalate. I think God wants us to smooth things over.

Was she on Ambien during the “burnt Jew” nonsense ?

no idea. nor do I know if David was on some kind of drug when he had Uriah murdered. nor do I know what was going on with Paul when he persecuted the Church. I just know God wants us to forgive. How old is this incident you're referring to?

Forgiveness ? She hasn’t asked for forgiveness for most of her stunts. And she isn’t sincere now or she wouldn’t even bring up Ambien. David didn’t blame drugs. He didn’t say anything other than “I have sinned”. Really bad comparison, dude.

I read her apology and didn't see one word about Ambien. I saw it in other headlines. But it appears she left it out of the apology.

But I don't think mentioning drinking or another drug in association with your actions is a problem. I've never been offended by someone apologizing and then adding they were on something or influenced by something or even going through something emotionally. I would never take that as a copout and then refuse their apology.

I was on a Cruise recently with my family, and a young man verbally abused my kids and a bunch of other kids. He called my youngest daughter the B word. Really foul mouth, really shocking. We later found out, his mom had just died and he and his father were on this Cruise to just get away and try to heal. The kid later apologized to my daughter. By your logic, she should have refused his apology and considered his emotional excuse that he shared a copout. Sorry, that's not what we're about. That's not the biblical model.

We just recently went through James study at my adult group at Church, and the issue of forgiveness really hit home. I was very convicted. It's not optional. Without humility and forgiveness our religion is worthless. The NT writers did not mince words about this.

Public apologies are becoming more and more rare in out society, and I can see why. They've become the kiss of death, especially for politicians. But maybe if the Church started influencing and leading by example things would change.

MLK would have forgiven her.

Roseanne Barr blames Ambien: 'I'm not a racist, just an idiot'

So according to you if I was a good Christian I’d demand that she get her show back ?

I don’t need to forgive her. I am not offended personally by her. But I do think she’s an attention seeking bomb thrower and she’s reaping a bit of that crop right now. I completely reject your admonition that she needs forgiveness from me at all.

I'm not targeting individuals as much as us as a culture. I think if we become a forgiving culture it would be good for our country. I'm not sure it's for you are me personally to forgive her in this specific instance (though she did apologize to all), but I think we should encourage forgiveness, in general. I think that's an area where the church needs to lead.

And just to be honest with you, I'm not a fan of her show. I thought it sounded interesting at first, but Rosanne, let's face it, is still a liberal. Her show promotes many things I don't like, and not much I do like. The opportunity was there, but I was a little disappointed.

But yeah, Rosanne says something horrible, apologizes and is forgiven and gets her show back. That would be a good sign for our country. That would denote a healthy culture. We all need forgiveness, and we all need to be encouraged to forgive.

LOL. Yeah. Let’s give Cosby back his, too. Let’s let Harvey Pervstein continue to molest little girls in his locked back room. Let’s let Kevin Spacy continue to have his pick of young boys to “educate”. Why have jails, or even traffic tickets ? We will I simply “forgive” every time.

I’m thinking you are a believer of forgiveness without repentance. Am I accurate ?

She gets roasted and fired with hours, and yet Bill marr can make the rudest/crudest jokes about President trump, as can Colber, and yet liberals give them both standing ovations, no problem!

Wow, what a moral equivalence. You think an insensitive racial tweet is the same as rape. So I suppose you think Rosanne should go to jail for life, if we're taking your comment at face value.

Just wow.

But just looking at these logically, I'm not advocating freeing someone after committing crimes like Cosby did. I am advocating the forgiveness of insults after apologies.

And these would never consider uttering an apology. Joy Bahar did, to her credit.
