Rosanne gone after one ill-advised tweet

Apology? What a stupid concept. That's part of the hypocrisy we are taught a young age to grab back what we lost. That griffin who're retracted hers after it didn't "work." Mayne this Roseanne should do the same.

Yeah, I was listening to some local radio folks and they started naming off all the celebs who made similar statements. I had a feeling she'd go back on this one.

I don't get the argument though. Someone changes their mind about leaving twitter and so you never believe their apology? That's a tough sell.

She said seven words in the same context. She obviously lied about leaving Twitter. (Or, if you prefer, changed her mind about Twitter.) Why should we believe her when she says she's apologizing?

My response is the same.

Wow, what a moral equivalence. You think an insensitive racial tweet is the same as rape. So I suppose you think Rosanne should go to jail for life, if we're taking your comment at face value.

Just wow.

But just looking at these logically, I'm not advocating freeing someone after committing crimes like Cosby did. I am advocating the forgiveness of insults after apologies.
Did you forgive Kathy Griffin of her attention grabbing activities which that severed Trump head?

Can't imagine what made her think of vj in the middle of the night like that. I quit watching Roseanne during her first series so I won't miss her.

I'd love to. Didn't she double down? But yes, wouldn't it be fantastic if she did the dumb stunt, apologized to Trump and his family (they are the target of the offense), he forgave (which he probably would) and everyone moved on? That is the type of culture I'm praying for.

Humans are always going to do dumb things. It's the result of the Fall. It's our nature. But we also have the ability to fight our nature and humbly forgive. I'd love to see the Church lead the culture in this area. But many Christians are as unforgiving and hateful as anyone else. Its sad.

If she had been a far left wacko, all would have been forgiven.

Apology or not.

She did apologize over it. Then about a month ago she retracted her apology.

Kathy Griffin and Roseanne Barr are two of a kind. Gross, crass, uncouth, so-called comediennes.

I prefer to be less indignant. In fact, I take attitude of Paul. We are all sinners and I am the chief of sinners.

This is the gospel and I think the part you don't understand. We are all Kathy Griffin and Rosanne. Griffin did a horrific thing in advocating for Trumps beheading, and I know you think Rosanne is despicable. She is. But so are you and me. So is the whole human race. That is the true Christian attitude.

Therefore, we need to serious heed the biblical doctrine of forgiveness, and be ready and quick to forgive. That's the example the Church should be leading with.

If we were good folks like we want to believe I could understand our reluctance to accept apologies. "Well they're just going to sin again!" But w'ere sinners. We're despicable. We offend a holy God every day and are receiving forgiveness.

That's why I want Christians to be known as quick forgivers. And I'd love us to influence the culture to do the same. I think we do to an extent, but there are many very unforgiving holdouts.

The Bible says that we are to forgive others' sins against us. Especially Christians who sin against Christians.

Eph. 4:12, Luke 17:3-4, Col. 3:13, Matt 18:15-18, James 5:16

Etc. etc.

What sin did the Christian women Roseanne Barr and Kathy Griffin commit against you that merits your forgiveness?

None. That's why I haven't forgiven her. LOL! Read my comments carefully. I've never advocated anything of the sort. Read!

Thread is about Roseanne Barr. Sure looks to me like you are advocating that we forgive her.

Read the actual thread. I never advocated you or anyone here accept Roseanne's apology, even though she apologized to all.

I'm advocating for Christians to encourage society to be forgiving.

You know, you criticize me often for not reading, and you've caught me a couple times misreading. I've apologized for those, but you're just as guilty and do it just as often. You hear what you want to hear, and you don't actually read what I write.

I fully agree with you, it's not for the bystanders to accept apologies.
