Saying what you believe is clearer than saying Calvinist

And really, I think that is what this life is all about, God is giving every man the choice whether to love him or not.

Does he give those who have never heard the Gospel a choice to love him. It's clear that the Lord doeesn't reveal Himself to everyone -- but to certain ones. "To whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?"

He does not force himself upon anyone.

Calvinists don't believe that. That's just the Calvinist caricature made-up from your imagination.

I disagree with Calvin on many subjects so it would be inconsistent for me to call myself after a man I have several serious disagreements with.

"Many subjects"? I disagree with a few;not many. I'm with Spurgeon when he said that he agrees with Calvin in the main.

I know a Calvinist who evangelizes and witnesses. I have to ask him........why? God has already picked His people out according to Calvinism, so why witness? It's mind boggling. NO, I DO NOT believe in Calvinism, I repeat...........It's un-Biblical. I guess I'm floored that there are Baptists who do believe in it. Never knew any before.

Your questions show a gross ignorance of Calvinism,The Covenants, And the grace of God.
We understand you want to be critical of what you mis-understand, but at least be accurate. You keep making comments, but fail to respond when you are answered. I think it is you cannot answer biblically.

oh wait,let me guess.....jn.3:16

Peter was writing a warning regarding false teachers. The false prophets falsely claimed to be saved, IE, "bought with a price" but in fact were not saved men. Peter is being somewhat sarcastic by saying these false prophets, who claim to be Christians, deny the very Lord they say bought them and that denial brings on them swift damnation. You can't just lift a verse out of its context and use it as a proof text. You have to read it in the context of Peter's teaching regarding the reprobate nature of those false prophets. :)

I have never heard that interpretation before. Can you tell me anyone else who believes that?

What's mindboggling is that for all the years that you have been on the BB you don't evidence any awareness of information which is readily shared from Calvinists.

Ask Whitefield,Judson,Carey,Calvin,Edwards why they evangelized as much as they did. They were all staunch Calvinists. I could name many more.

NO, I DO NOT believe in Calvinism, I repeat...........It's un-Biblical. I guess I'm floored that there are Baptists who do believe in it. Never knew any before.

You don't believe in it because you STILL don't know what it is.

You can honestly say that you never met a Calvinist before coming to the BB?

So you believe God created some people predestined for Hell? Nothing they can do about it.

Read the Scripture B4L. Check out Pro.16:4;Ro.9:22;Ro.11:7;1 Pe.2:8;1Pe.4:17;2Pe.2:3,12;2Pe.3:7;Jn.17:12;2Cor.11:15;1 Thess.5:9;2Thess.2:3;Jude4,13;Acts1:15 and Phil.1:28.

Report back only if you have read and meditated on the above passages.

He's not gonna "call" them to Himself? No matter what? Calvinists are a strange bunch.

No,the Lord doesn't effectually call every single individual who has,is and shall live.He has decided long ago who he will savingly call. He has the perfect right...because He is ..the LORD.

Non-Cals like you are very strange when you don't do any homework but yet blast those who depend on the Scriptures which proclaim truths you deny.

Hank, there is no clash. The gospel was God's idea, it was of his will. Man, if left to himself will always seek to save himself through his own merit. Man believes he can be good enough to earn his own salvation. Man would never conceive of the gospel if he lived a million years. So, the gospel is 100% of God alone.

It is God's word and especially the gospel that revealed to all of us that we are sinners and incapable of saving ourselves. It is the scriptures that showed us Jesus his son died for our sins, and told us if we believe on him we shall be saved.

I chose to believe on Jesus, but I could never have done that if God's word had not convicted me of my sin and showed me I could trust Jesus and be saved. Paul asked, "and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard?" (Rom 10:14)

So, God gets all the credit.

There is no clash whatsoever.

A better choice of words on my part would have been "enmity".

Romans 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

Ok if God loves everyone the same how could he choose some and no others? Would not that imply that he loves some more then others?
