GodlyWoman said:Alright, but 2 Tessalonians 2:15 that said to stand firm and to hold to the traditions which you were taught, whether by word of mouth or by letter from us (New American Standard Bible) .
So, in one area of the Bible it's condemned and in another part of the Bible it's encouraged. Which is it? Please englighten me.
I won't even dignify this with more of a response since you completely ignoired some of the things I said in my last post.
TRADITION
The act of delivering into the hands of another; that which is handed down from generation to generation. The Latin root of this word is trado, to deliver. The delivery of opinions, doctrines, practices, rites and customs from father to son, or from ancestors to posterity (Webster). This word is used in two distinctly different ways in the N.T., and the chief difference between the two meanings is the authority upon which the tradition is based.
(1) The vain traditions of false religion (Matthew 15:2-3,6; Mark 7:3,5,8-9,13; Galatians 1:14; Colossians 2:8). This involves any uninspired teaching of man that is placed on the same level of authority as the inspired Word of God. The Roman Catholic Church has brazenly exalted its traditions to a level equal with Holy Scripture. Many other denominations are also guilty of founding their doctrine and practice on the uninspired traditions of man rather than solely upon the infallible and all-sufficient Word of God.
(2) The authoritative teachings and practices of the N.T. as delivered to the Apostles by inspiration of the Holy Spirit ](2 Thessalonians 2:15; 2 Thessalonians 3:6). In this passage of Scripture the term tradition is used in a positive sense, referring to that which has been handed down from the Lord's Apostles by inspired doctrine.

2 Thessalonians 2:14 Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
2 Thessalonians 2:15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.
The Apostle Paul is not speaking of man-made "traditions" ... he is speaking of the GOSPEL, the TRUTH which he had taught through his epistle or through his spoken teaching of the Gospel. Take note: 2 Thessalonians 2:15 begins with the word "Therefore"...meaning "for this reason/because of this". Therefore, 2 Thessalonians 2:15 needs to be taken into context with the verses which precede it...not isolated and interpreted "out of context" to mean the uninspired, man-made "traditions" of the ECF (Early Church Fathers).
