This generation is so backwards because of dispensationalism.
"This generation" has nothing to do with it...
The early Christians did not teach tithing...nor was it an established doctrine by either Baptists in general or conservative Presbyterians as late as the later half of the 19th Century...
If anything...."Storehouse Tithing" is more a construct of the past 50-60 years than the last 400. Check your later Church History, you will find that inarguably so.
Calvin taught against it, ditto Luther....actually, ditto all reformers I am aware of (I'm no authority on them)....
If you wanna invoke the Theologians and Biblical Expositors of yester-year, I advise you to go back no farther than 100 years, because they WON'T help you.
"Dispensationalism" has nothing to do with it.... I can speak for neither of them, but I'm pretty sure neither Old Regular, nor Havensdad, nor Aresman (who wrote a rather quality book on that topic) are "Dispensationalists".
"Dispensationalism" has
nil to do with it. Actually, I'd challenge you this: I'd actually bet you CASH MONEY that the MAJORITY of "Store-House Tithing" advocates actually ARE "Dispensationalists".
I'd bet you money if you set the Barna Group on it...you'd find MORE advocates of Storehouse tithing amongst the ranks of Dispensationalists than ANY other Protestant Group....I dunno, but I'd bet my "tithe" that's true.
