That's not how this works. We are told in Scripture how salvation works and what is required. The problem is that you can't produce a single piece of Scripture that says it's NOT acceptable. So, it goes both ways.

For me it falls into a camp of well meaning people (usually) who are zealous to convert sinners and are less concerned about theology than they are of commitments to be a Christian. I commend their zeal. They truly desire people to be saved. I cringe at their execution as I have seen countless persons who became self focused on their works, which always leads to either self pride or self pity.Yes I do not doubt that some who used the sinners prayer are indeed converts. But this asking Jesus into your heart thing shouldn't be taught. It is not biblical. They can't produce a single reference for it because it isn't there.
Post it...don't just come on and make statements with no scriptural support. I see too much of this on other sites...especially from those who hold to certain soteriological viewpoints. That's not how this works. We are told in Scripture how salvation works and what is required.
It's already been posted in this thread. Scripture doesn't say ask Jesus into your heart. It says Believe and Confess. That's what it says. Goodness, this is not difficult. You just like your "feel good" theology but that doesn't make it biblical. Sheesh.Post it...don't just come on and make statements with no scriptural support. You don't know me from Adam, and you have no idea what I like. Quit being a child and act like the Christian you say you are....Your referral back still doesn't negate the position some hold on this. I'm against easy-believism and the 1-2-3 pray after me mentality, but it does produce some pretty good Christians. Not all people who come to Christ are going to understand your "Believe and Confess" mentality right off the bat...so again, I say...grow up and get real. It's already been posted in this thread. What do you think "easy-believism" is?I'm against easy-believism
why don't you address this to the person you are referring to?
What do you think "easy-believism" is?
Salvation is through simply believeing the gospel, Romans 1:16.
Matthew 11:28-30.
If you don't understand believe and confess I don't believe you can be saved. You don't know me from Adam, and you have no idea what I like. If you'd be careful enough to go back and read the post, you'll see that the quote is included within my response.
If you don't understand believe and confess I don't believe you can be saved.
First of all, Calvin has nothing to do with my beliefs. Period. Second, no, if you don't confess him as Lord you are not saved. Period. Not everyone who believes is going to right off the bat confess that Jesus is Lord. It comes in time with most. Of course, you, being a Calvinist wouldn't understand that as you worship YOUR God...Calvin...
I don't see it in 29
Typical Calvy comeback! Thanks for proving my point.First of all, Calvin has nothing to do with my beliefs. Period. Second, no, if you don't confess him as Lord you are not saved. Period.
