Sins a Christian cannot commit...

    I've said nothing of the sort. Are you having trouble understanding me? Everyone else is "getting it." If you're going to put words in my mouth, let's avoid the heretical...OK?

    Here you go:

    Ephesians 2:8-9--
    "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast."

    You cannot add works to salvation. Ever. To do so is the height of heresy.

    You, I, no one, deserves salvation. Christ paid the penalty for us.

    To suggest that we must never sin in order to be saved is a crock. That is unnatainable.

    Only because of Christ's righteousness may we have eternal and abundant life.

    Face it, Charles: we all sin. You. me. us.

    Let me ask everyone a question?

    If a member of your church was having an affair with your spouse, would you consider them a brother or sister in the Lord?

    1. Charles, that is not the point. The disciples were present at the feet of Jesus as He presented the Sermon on the Mount (Matt 5:1, 2). That is the point I'm trying to make.

    2. When I mentioned Matt 5, you wanted to know if Jesus was addressing believers. So I asked you about the disciples.

    Once again...we're "stuck on adultery."

    According to Revelation 21 and 1 Corinthians 6...Covetousness & Fearfulness are in the same boat as adultery.

    Why not use them as examples?

    I know why...

    Because adultery's a "bad sin." It's not too much of a stretch to say, "a Christian would never commit adultery."

    But IF you're going to be faithful to Scripture, then you must treat sins such as "Greed" and "Cowardice" the SAME WAY...because they're in that passage as well.

    And, that probably messes up your argument...because I doubt that ANY of us could go down the list and say, "Nope, I havent' committed any of those sins since becoming a Christian."

    And so, you keep harping on the perverted sexual sins...because they are "safer" to harp on.

    How 'bout some intellectual consistency here?

    1. I'm not one of those who categorizes the Sermon on the Mount differently because of a particular theological bent.

    2. If I were to adopt your reasoning about believers and certain sins, then I'll have to take a cafeteria approach to Matt 5-7 the next time I read it.

    3. The fundamental issue here is our interpretation of Scripture. Until that is resolved, we'll continue to have these strains on Scripture.

    If you can't answer the ones about adultery, then why ask another. Seems to me a Christian could answer the one on adultery real easy.

    Charles, now you engaging in circular reasoning. Make up your mind! What are you really asking or saying?

    1. Christians cannot commit certains sins.

    2. Christians cannot lead a lifestyle of certain sins.

    Which one of these? Can't be both, because they assume different things.

    Christians do not commit certain sins that send them to hell, God will not allow it.

    I do not lie, for all liars will find their place in the lake of fire. You have to know what a lie is though, It is a deliberate attempt to decieve someone, not to tell something you think to be the truth.
