Charles Spurgeon not only drank beer and wine but also smoked to the glory of God. I hate cigarettes but how is a Cegar? Anyone here smoke? It's not good for you in excess but perhaps here and there would be okay.
There are three things that I love but abstain from them. Before I was saved I loved a good cigar and my pipe when at home. And either of them were enjoyed with three fingers of Wild Turkey Bourbon Whiskey. But by choice, I gave all three away to the World where I did these things.

Wrong. I am looking to prove a point or just to discuss as I myself do not even smoke!
I am also looking at the principle (indulging the flesh to the glory of God) and not the cigar itself (sometimes a cigar is just a cigar, but this time it's a principle).

How can someone drink or smoke "to the glory of God"? How is drinking, or smoking, glorifying your Lord and Savior?

That drinking done in moderation is okay. That smoking a Cegar on occasion may be okay.
Than your argument needs to be made from Scripture, not past figures. Given what we know about what smoking does to the body, pointing to someone who lived prior to that information being widely known is a non-argument.

Paul rebuked the Corinthians for "Tiptoeing" around sin; 1 Corinthians 8-10. Brother, while i agree with soul liberty and the such, why are you constantly trying to see how close you can get to the line? Instead of asking "Is this okay?" or "is it a sin?" Why don't you start asking, "Does this Draw me closer to Jesus?" Your Posts lack anything to do with Christ.

First off, it is lower case C and "cigar" and not "cegar".

But why is taking a dangerous substance that has absolutely zero health benefits "okay"? I don't understand that.

Controversialist James White describing how he conducted experiments on himself with 'Smirnoff Ice' brand of malt liquor and found that imbibing it at bedtime gave him two to four extra hours of sleep per month!

I have a friend who has a wine cooler periodically because it helps her pain better than many pain killers - that she can't take because they have done a number on her system. But for me, it might help me to sleep a little bit better because it is a bit of a sedative but then by 4 am I'd wake up with a massive migraine and it just isn't worth it to me. :( I'd lose MORE sleep by imbibing than not.

Thanks for the laughs. The guy gets a whopping 3 hours average more sleep per month and credits it to Smirnoff Ice. This is how he justifies alcohol use.

Where I'm from we call that a couple of naps.

Okay, I couldn't let this one slide.

Did God create wine?

Does it occur naturally somewhere? Or do the grapes have to be collected, placed in a container, and allowed to ferment?

Does this mean God created vodka? Or do the grains, cereals, whatever have to be mixed and allowed to be fermented?

How about beer? Or do those ingredients have to be mixed and allowed to ferment?

And let's not forget Mike's hard lemonades. Are those naturally occuring, or do they require someone to mix them?

There are SO many things wrong with this thread, starting with "smoked to the glory of God."

The author of this thread has been looking for justification of his lifestyle choices. I suggest he allow soul liberty to work in his life, and stop looking for validation from anonymous internet entities.
Hey, how about Magic Mushrooms (Psylocibin)! ?
You don't need to process them.
You don't need to smoke them.
You only need to eat them. Yes, even on a pizza!

Then you can hallucinate to the glory of God.

Really folks,

Romans 14:23 And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.

OK There is the Law of Liberty.

There is also the Law of Common Sense.

Well, c'mon Evan--JonC, Revmitchell, annsni, myself, and probably a whole bunch of other people are waiting for you to tell us how you can smoke and drink to the glory of God. Why not tell us how that's done?
