Well!!! Remember the tomatos I set out this past week?? And remember the cold snap that was predicted?? The tomatos are history!!! History!!!!!! And remember the board meteorologist who forecasted and pinpointed what was gonna happen that fateful day here in Wesson?? Well, I really don't think she'll ever never be able to forgive me for what I'm about to say--but see . . . She forcasted the freeze for Wesson--and I didn't believe her!! I went to an outside source for a second opinion and then a third---and then used the combination to make a fatal decision---

Even when rsr was blabbin' about some stupid snowflake in Oklahoma--I still wasn't buyin' the forcast--I'm thinkin' to myself--"Man! They're rockin' in a straight chair!!! Their butter's done slipped off their bisquit!!"

Well, I was wrong and distrustful of others--therefore, I put myself on probation--no moderator has to "call me down!" Nobody has to
"blow the whistle!" I just ask forgivness and a "Let's go on from here!" "Let bygon's be bygons!" "Bury the hatchet!" "It was all my fault!!"

The tomatos were a buck and a half per six pack--I set out ten six packs--somebody figure that out and then ya'll "Pass the hat!" for ole Blackbird enough "bula, bula" for another ten six packs!!

Again! I beg forgiveness and just pray that I haven't lost any respect from any of our hapless readers---the best to you and yours--this April Fool's Day!!!!!!

Your Southern Baptist preachin', April Foolin' buddy!!

Blackbird, we all make mistakes. Your punishment will be to tally up the score, and go buy some more. All this week should be nice.

    Look:

    Wesson, MS

    Today
    Apr 01 Sunny 72°/50° 0 %
    Wed
    Apr 02 Mostly Sunny 78°/53° 0 %
    Thu
    Apr 03 Partly Cloudy 80°/57° 0 %
    Fri
    Apr 04 Isolated T-Storms 81°/56° 30 %

You have a couple of days to replant.

Oh and your pollen count is up this week. Very high.

Well I want to take this moment to remind everyone that it is spring and clean up can be dangerous, when burning.

Consider some things before burning leaves and things around your home:

    Is it dry
    Is it Windy
Do you have a way of putting the fire out if it gets carried away
Will you be supervising the burning of leaves, trash, etc.

    These are just some.

Today is RED FLAG WARNING TODAY FOR SOUTHEAST MISSOURI AND SOUTHERN ILLINOIS...INCLUDING THE MARK TWAIN AND SHAWNEE NATIONAL FORESTS...

HIGH PRESSURE ACROSS THE SOUTHEAST U.S. AND LOW PRESSURE DEVELOPING OVER THE PLAINS...WILL RESULT GUSTY SOUTHWEST WINDS ACROSS THE REGION TODAY...ESPECIALLY FROM LATE MORNING THROUGH LATE AFTERNOON. DURING THE AFTERNOON HOURS...WINDS WILL BE SOUTHWEST 15 TO 30 MPH...RELATIVE HUMIDITIES 20 TO 25 PERCENT...AND 10 HOUR FUEL STICK MOISTURE BELOW 9 PERCENT. CONDITIONS WILL IMPROVE RAPIDLY AFTER SUNSET...AS TEMPERATURES AND WINDS DECREASE AND RELATIVE HUMIDITY INCREASES.

jonmagee.....I am very interested in your TES program. I am especially interested in what Naomi Hill is doing. I wanted to know how this has helped in young teens and young adults coming to the Lord.

How exactly does the TES program work? Is this for young adults or the whole church?

Sherrie, thanks for thinking of me. I'm in Norman, Oklahoma, Home of the Sooners, but the weather you post for rsr will do for me.

He seems to get most of our weather before we do.
Or maybe, he can't stand it so he sends it on to us. [IMG]

And, we are sad today because the Sooners didn't make it to the Final Four. :(

Glad to see yet another Sooner fan on the board. [IMG] It is very sad to see Hollis Price finishing his final year without achieving his dream of making it to New Orleans (where he grew up) for the Final Four. We should have a good team next year, but Price was definately the heart of this year's team. Northeastern State University (where I attended and graduated 1993-1997) of Tahlequah, OK won the NCAA Division II men's basketball championship, so that made me feel a little better after getting over the Sooners defeat.

So now we have to go back to spring football practice to see if QB Jason White can come back a 2nd time from leg injuries. I think ESPN is supposed to have the Red/White scrimmage on TV for one of their specials. I need to find out when it will be on.

    Hi Rod!
I tried the basketball thing for you, But I just could not do it. Sorry. Guess you have to start young to like it. But I am glad Betty likes it...so you won't be alone watching the Games. I think PastorBob63 is refereeing some Basketball this weekend in Springfield. I heard Barnabas say something about it to Basketball Girl. She is 14 and new here. She loves to play basketball.

I love hockey, and ever so often DHK will post, because DHK...likes hockey. Do you ever watch hockey in the winter?

I don't watch hockey much, probably because I have never lived anywhere that had a hockey team. There are some semi-pro teams in Tulsa, OK and I think Little Rock, AR, but nothing close to here. If you aren't around it enough to hear about it and learn about it, it is hard to watch it.

I played basketball from the time I was old enough to walk until I graduated from high school, although I never was very good at it (I am only 5'7"). That is probably why I like it so much. I never played football, but my dad always watched or listened to the Sooners football games, so I was exposed to college football all of my life. I will watch other sports occationally (my wife loves NASCAR) but college football and basketball are the primary sports I watch.

    Hi RodH,

I have taught our dog, Muffin, a Bichon Friese, to applaud for the Sooners when they are on TV, football and basketball. I think he tried to imitate them with his toys by throwing them in the air and trying to catch them. [IMG]

There is some beautiful country around Tahlequah...TenKiller Lake for example.

I played basketball in high school. We won district and went to State, but didn't get very far at State (Texas).

Betty, I spent the first 22 years of my life in NE Oklahoma. I am still close, just across the state line in Arkansas. I spent many summers around the Illinois River and the beautiful lakes in the area. I have been to the Norman/OK City area several times and even watched one Sooner football game at Norman, but not recently. I may get to go this fall if my friend gets his OU football season tickets again this year. My wife and her mother took our two boys to the Sam Noble Museum of Natural History(?) last year and they enjoyed it, especially the dinosaurs. Have you been there yet?

If I am ever around Lawton, I will have to have rsr introduce me to some of those prairie dogs.

Yes, we took our grandchildren and nephews to the Sam Noble Museum. It is unbelievable how large those dinosaurs were.

My dog stands up and waves his paws like a prairie dog. They are something to see.

Rod, I haven't commented on the Sooners because, well, it was so disappointing. Sad to think that some people will consider the season below-par because the Sooners only made it to the final eight, huh?

(BTW, when I was in school at OU, the basketball had long been a joke, but Dave Bliss and Alvan Adams finally put the Sooners on the map. By beating TEXAS. [IMG] )

We have an abundance of prairie dogs, should anyone want some. It's OK; Elmo wants to avoid overgrazing. A new crop has arrived, and the city park is crawling with them. Bring a sack of bread and you can have them eating out of your hand. But don't try it with the buffalo at the refuge.

I've been to Sam Noble; I really like the buffalo statue. We're trying to build the Army Museum of the Southwest down here — the Fort Sill Museum has an incredible collection of just about everything, including a UNIAC computer and an unbelievable assortment of cavalry and American Indian artifacts, but nowhere to put all the items.

If you ever come down, check out the Geronimo Guardhouse and Geronimo's grave, and don't miss Medicine Bluff, the wildlife refuge and Meers Store. Not to mention Medicine Park, the Museum of the Great Plains and Mount Scott.

Betty, we attended Bethel Baptist Church on Lindsay. Do you know any folks there? (Interesting that Lindsay Street and the town of Lindsey, Oklahoma, are named for the same person but are spelled differently. Just a bit of Okie trivia, like Vici, Slapout, Bowlegs, Nowhere ...)

Rod, my favorite state park, by far, is Greenleaf between Muskogee and Tahlequah. Nice camping spots, canoeing, turkey and deer, and peace and quiet. (And good showers, LOL.) I highly recommend it. I've also camped on Beaver Lake east of Springfield (nice swimming and OK showers (solar-heated, so don't wait too long), and I will forgive the skunk episode. We also camped at Withrow Springs, which was very nice, and Devil's Den, which was very interesting. But Arkansas state parks insist on laying out tent pads which are 1) filled with gravel and 2) don't fit my tent. Take this up with someone, if you don't mind. [IMG]

rsr, were you at TableRock Lake when our Boxer Dog killed a skunk? :( No, that was too many years ago.

I attended Bethel for a while about 9 years ago. I liked the pastor, but you know I can't remember anyone's name. There was a Mrs. Madden that was the organist and also an artist. You see what my interests are.

The lady who taught me Oklahoma History

had seen Geronimo when he was in jail

    Thanks Sherrie,
    It's slowly, but surely.
BTW, I do follow hockey fairly closely, as you guessed. Our Edmonton Oilers are in the playoffs which start on April 9.

    Thanks Sherrie,
I didn't know such a thread existed. Before members usually posted their milestone posts in the private members forum. I wasn't aware of the change.

OK! Ya'll watch! The board data is in--the board meterologist has given the "green lite"--today Blackbird has about 25 tomato plants in those little tray lookin' things--and he's gonna set them out--more tomatos to follow later---

Of course, nobody on the board is gonna help their jolly big ole buddy "plant" the plants--but like the farm animals in the story--I'm sure ya'll will all want to come over for a big ole sloppy tomato sandwich, won't cha??? Gobb the mayo on(Blue Plate or BAMA)--lots of salt and pepper--and a big ole glass of tea!!

I'll call the airlines for all of you "far away-ers"--get some special deals on flights to Jackson!
