If it's true and accurate and appropriate to point out, how can it be a slur? You posted a cartoon mocking an American President. And the message of the cartoon was misleading and mischaracterized Trump's position. He's not just targeting China alone. You're posting leftist propaganda (and you claim to be conservative). This isn't the tactic conservatives are taking. There are legit concerns, but they don't cite the leftists nonsense you cite.
In fact, isn't falsely accusing someone of a slur, a slur in and of itself? Perhaps you should be circumspect.

That's abundantly clear by looking at the cartoon. BTW, Trump admin announced yesterday that there would be carve-outs for many nations. Let's see who Trump ends up targeting. Maybe it will be China alone.
China is the #11 exporter of steel to the U.S. That is a fact, not propaganda.
Yeah....you might want to look up some of Michael Rameriz's op-ed cartoons. Let me know where he falls on the political spectrum.

I think a big fat, "I TOLD YOU SO" might be in order. The goal is not tariffs, but fairness. Want to keep selling to our country? Knock off the shenanigans, and you'll be just fine. I bet a whole bunch of sellers will be willing to come to the table.

It's official, steel 25%, aluminum 10%. Some exclusions have already been negotiated. My guess is, most countries will negotiate.
Now lets see if all the doom and gloom predictions come true.

I read a The Dallas Business Journal article about the tariffs this morning.

Jim Taylor has long been hoping for tariffs on steel imports.
The CEO of Falcon Steel America, based just outside of Fort Worth in Haltom City, contends his competitors in countries like Turkey and India receive subsidies from their respective governments. That gives them a leg up when selling things like lattice towers, the product Falcon Steel makes, by offering them at lower prices.
Earlier this month, he got his wish when President Trump imposed 25-percent tariffs on steel imports except from Canada and Mexico. While some domestic producers of steel welcomed the news, others worry these tariffs will harm U.S. companies which buy steel, or start a trade war.
And even though Taylor has been asking for tariffs, he doesn't like this way of enacting them.
"If the purpose of the tariff was to protect our national security as well as our economy, then the tariff actually has a possibility of having the opposite effect," Taylor said.
Taylor's problem with the tariffs is they don't cover steel products that come into the country, just the raw steel. So, Falcon Steel's foreign competitors can still sell their products in the U.S. at a lower cost.
"They didn't stop the products," Taylor said. "If I'm forced to buy U.S. steel because the tariffs make it so expensive for me, then my competitor has got an increased advantage in building the products that we build. And it could drive us out of business."

A whole lot of predictions are being made. So far, none are coming true. In fact, Trump may be negotiating Europe to drop some of their tariffs in exchange for steel tariffs. So we may end up with less tariffs between us. None of this would've happened had Trump not put tariffs on the table.

You don't know that yet. This just started.
The guy I quoted made an outstanding point about tariffs on raw materials vs. no tariffs on fabricated steel materials. We may gain some steel mill jobs but lose an enormous amount of jobs in traditionally blue-collar skilled labor.
Do you at least agree that this is a legitimate concern?
Those words may come back to haunt everyone.
He's been in office over a year. And remember the Armageddon comments about the tax cut, if it passed? Remember how it would destroy the economy? Remember Nancy Pelosi?
All you guys have are predictions, and when they don't come true, you move to a new prediction.
The tariff was just announced and signed. Not much chance to see effects yet.
I don't listen to what Nancy Pelosi has to say.
My prediction was that I would get a better tax break than most, but it will drive up the debt and shrink the amount of credit available for the private sector. At some point, we are all going to have to pay for it one way or another.
It's like getting a new credit card when you are on a very tight budget. It feels great when you can suddenly charge anything you need, but the bill is coming and if you haven't saved the money to pay it, you will be in much worse shape.
As far as I can tell, that's happening.
"At some point." That's the way all these predictions go. No accountability, beause they are meaningless predictions. Sometime in the next millennia we're really going to pay from Trump's tax cuts.
That is an interesting analogy on tax cuts. So the government taking less from businesses and individuals is like getting a new credit cards. Hmmmm.
Curious, did you know that tax cuts have always led to higher revenue collected, from Kennedy to Trump? But you think it leads to higher debt?
And you don't think increasing spending had anything to do with it?
