What did you do today? What are you going to do today?
Well I just saw this thread today! How neat!
What did I do today? I got up at about 8:30 this morning, spent about 45 minutes getting ready for church.
Drove to church about twenty till ten, got inside only to find the heating unit over the area my sunday school class meets was out, so we met in the auditorum with pastor and the adult class. Before Sunday school started, I helped one of the ladies rescue our dying poinsettia plants from the auditorium. Seems they got too hot and were starting to wilt!
Pastor and Miss Joyce (his wife) just got back from Duke were she's had a week of tests run. The news was kinda good, kinda bad. The results being without a trasplant she will not live. They need to fix something else medicaly wrong with her, then they want to put her on the active transplant list which means pastor and miss Joyce have to stay at least two hours from were the operation will be done, so once they get all that worked out, poor pastor and miss Joyce will have to drive about three hours for church services. Thankfully her insurance will cover the biggest part of their medical expenses, so that is a HUGE blessing. The church stands behind them 100% so whatever the Lord decides, we all will be standing with them on it.
The wonderful thing about the service was that two people got saved this morning! Boy were we all excited!
Before I left, I bought a book, Bible, and tape as Christmas gifts from our church bookstore, and nearly killed my friend Codey. Well ok, so I didn't kill him, but we usualy come pretty close. We joke that no one makes us mader than each other! I believe the reason we were upset was because he blamed me for a shelf of tapes collapsing...and I never even touched it! Go figure! LOL we were speaking again tonight, but I declair it's a miracle that we are still living, cause we've picked and argued over dumb stuff like this since were six! (LOL, and I'm sure as long as we know each other, we'll keep on fighting! Something about our personalities just dosn't go together!)
I got home, and watched the news about Saddam being caught (and praised God about it too!) and ate dinner with my grandparents. My grandpa and I sat by the woodstove and talked and joked for awhile.
I then wrapped some Christmas presents for about two hours. My dad dropped in to bring my brother home from his house, and we sat around talking. (I probably havn't sat and talked with my dad since who knows how long.)
Then I heated up left overs, ate it for supper, played some hymns and Christmas carols on piano, fixed my hair and drove to church. It was about twenty till five when I left.
Got to chruch, sat and talked with my friend Summer and her family before service started. (Summer goes to school with me, got saved a few weeks back and has been coming to church with her family since! Praise God!)
Went and sat with my friend Heather and her family for service. Oh, pastor's messege was SOOO good tonight! I really enjoyed it! It was on "The Gifts of God."
Then we gathered at the Lord's Table for Communion. Two of the little girls sat beside me, and since they aren't saved yet, they of course can't partake in the supper, but they didn't understand why I got "a cookie and red stuff" and they didn't. After I told them why, they just shrugged (they're like five) and then asked if the "red stuff" I had was "real blood." Oh mercy! It was certianly interesting to see Communion from their eyes!
After that choir practiced, and then we got the little ones together to practice their songs for next week. We seem to be having a problem getting them to actualy SING the words to the songs! I hope everything goes ok this week!
After that I left, got home, took a bath, practiced my song for next Sunday, read the Bible to my family, and I've been reading stuff on the BB since.
Well this has been an epistle I know, but this was my day! I hope everyone else has a great week!

Hi Abby, Good to see you. You are a busy gal.
Thanks for sharing your day with us.

Today, I'm folding clothes, planning a new painting. While I am in the Christmas mood, I'm planning a large nativity scene to place in my living room during Christmas. It will have a theme of Christ's life. The manager scene with wise men (grandson called them wise guys  ), sheperds, angels. Then a vingette of Christ and then the resurection.

It is rather ambitious and I may not complete it until next Christmas.

I will sketch it on paper and then transfer to the canvas.

I hope to get it ready for painting tomorrow.

Have a great day and enjoy the season.

Painted this morning with a friend. I think I got more paint on me than on the canvas.

She brought me a lovely plant for Christmas. She thought it was a Christmas Cactus, but when we looked it up, it is a Thanksgiving Cactus. It is beautiful. She wanted to put it in the Sun Room, but after I read the instructions, there is too much sun for it in that room. It will have to be in a NW or E window. My African Violet is in the NE window in my kitchen. Not sure where I will put it. Maybe in the library, it has a NE window or the dining room.

The plant is so beautiful with light pink to dark pink flowers.

Need to run. I have to get ready to go my granddaughter's Christmas Play.

Oh how fun. I don't know the first thing about cactus. And as I remeber African violets are one of the tempermental flowers that seem to die immediately in my care.

My kindergardener Lauren is singing in a Christmas program tomorrow morning and the morning after in school. The teacher wants the children to dress in red or green. I'm grateful for the green. And I have a feeling that she added green for Lauren's sake. She's a red head (the only one in her grade)...aka orange...and orange just clashes really bad with red. Green on the other hand she can wear with no difficulty whatsoever. She's playing an elf. Should be cute.

Today...I got my hair done and did a little shopping, a little cleaning and now a little typing. I like Tuesdays. They're my day to do whatever I want to. Every other day is so busy.

Hope you all had a nice Tuesday too.

Thankful

Last night we went to see 9 year old granddaughter as a Candy Flute in the Nutcracker.

She was wearing the red socks that it took us an hour to find last week. The red matched perfectly. I will listen to her next time. I thought it was more crimson than red. She is so precious, the baby of the family.

As we watched this play, I thought we have seen this before and remembered that 2 years ago, a grandson was in this same play at the same school.

Well, I have wasted about 2 hours this morning trying to set up my scanner. I can't find the software. So I downloaded the driver, but I don't have the scanner software that is necessary to scan. Computers are wonderful when they work. Wonder where I put the disk! Did it get moved or moved to the trash?

At least I remembered to call the vet to board Muffin when we go out of town.

The plant that I received for Christmas has been moved three times. The instructions say that it does not like to be moved. It is a loner!
It is beautiful, but it does need a special spot.

My daughter has the "bug" and has been home for 2 days now. She is 16. I did go to work for a half day yesterday, but stayed home with her today. It sounds like it's breaking up now. She had a temp of 102 last night and about 100 this morning. Feels cooler now and she is eating well and drinking lots of juice and water. She is a lot like me, I have never had trouble eating when I've been sick, I think maybe that's part of the reason I don't usually stay sick for very long. Husband was sick last week but his did not seem to go down into his chest like my daughter's has. I have not gotten it yet. But I am a bit exhausted and stressed for various reasons. My right eyelid has been twitching for over 3 weeks now. Too much caffeine, stress, fatigue......Make it stop!!!!

Daughter really wants to go to school tomorrow, last day before break. We'll see......Gotta go out for a few minutes to get my nephew's Christmas gift, to mail to Clearwater FL.....getting him a VISA gift card.

Also made some small trays of lasagna, goulash and chili for the freezer....those really help out on busy nights. Took me about 90 minutes or so to make 3 trays of lasagna, 2 trays of goulash and 2 quarts of chili. Want to make some chicken and brown rice salad for my lunches but need a granny smith apple. That'll have to wait til later.

Ralb, I hope your daughter is better this morning. That is such a great idea to cook a lot of stuff and freeze it. I used to do that when I was working and still had children at home.

I'm going to the beauty shop today....to get hair cut and colored.

Take some of grandchildren's presents to them as they are leaving on a trip tomorrow.

Today will be a quiet day. I have talked to my 91 year old mother on the phone. All she can do most of the time now is say "yes" or "no". It is difficult to get any kind of discussion going with her and I miss that. We used to talk about everything. We had great Bible discussions.

She was very opinionated. I'm not anything like her. ;)

I'm going to prepare music for tomorrow's church service. I love this time of year when we sing Christmas Carols.

Hope you all have a great day. Enjoy, Enjoy, Enjoy. Merry Christmas!!!!!

Today I will be finishing up my holiday baking. My girls will be at my mom's for most of the day, just having fun nanny time....then later this afternoon,we will deliver our homemade goodies to neighbors and friends. We have been cooking all weekend,I just have to make the snickerdoodles today. We have made chocolate covered pretzels(white almond bark and chocolate)7 layered bars, snickerdoodles, peanut butter fudge, sugar cookies with red and green sprinkles, puppy chow, cranberry drop cookies, and peanut butter cookies with the hershey kiss in the middle. We are making a small sampler platter for neighbors and friends. I am also adding a couple of hot cocoa and flavored coffees mixes to the goodies.

We enjoy sharing with others during the Christmas season.

Tonight,we are having a family christmas carol singing night...just the traditional songs, but for a school project,my older girls have written new words to an old christmas tune,so we will be learning those as well.

My baby has a runny nose and I have started having some congestion and sore throat  ....I'm hoping it is minor cold or something.

Have a wonderful day!

I'm a little behind. Yesterday was a wonderful day seeing son and family and step children.

The church service was outstanding! Many, many people in church. We only had two absent in our Sunday School Class. I think most of the illness has already been through our church

Music Director threw us a curve last night and we started singing a verse of all the Christmas hymns in the hymn book. We sang half last night and will sing the other have next Sunday evening.

Some of the hymns I had to sight read as I had not ever played them before. One day I am sure that he probably will start at the first of the book and we will sing all the way through.

Then, husband and I looked at Christmas lights after church.

Today, I did the usually straightning of the house after a weekend, did laundry.

Step-son brought over his comforter to wash and dry as his washer and dryer are too small to handle it. It does take a long time to dry. Maybe he can pick it up by Christmas Eve. :(

Muffin (the dog) was so glad to see him. He was very excited when I told him who was coming over. He waited and waited by the door. I really think he understands what I am saying.

Got the rest of the Christmas presents ready.

Paid bills and got things ready to mail for the rest of the month.

Not a very exciting day, but enjoyable.

Watched Dino on Television. Can't find a movie that isn't sad and I refuse to watch the sad Christmas movies.

Maybe we will just turn in early and read a good book.

I got a special phone call this morning from the grandchildren that went to Colorado. They are having a great time. Older brother says 6 year old sister is a natural at skiing. She said that she graduated from ski school with an A+.

Hope you all are having a great day.

Oh, Elnora, that is so much fun to be with grandkids.

Today is a beautiful Christmas Eve here in Oklahoma. Sun is shinning and the weeds are green! No white Christmas this year.

It is good weather for traveling to Grandmother's House!

We will have some festivities this afternoon.

Then Christmas Eve Candle Lighting Ceremony at church.

We are playing Christmas Carols and husband is singing as he vaccuums, oops....I vaccuumed yesterday, but we had people over and our carpet is forest green.

He thinks I am working.....Well, I am....
