The parents or sponsors answer for the person being baptised if they can not answer for themselves.
Repentance and Faith are required.
The parents or sponsors answer the baptismal vows for the one unable to. That satisfies the repentance requirement and affirmation of Faith requirement.

V. Do you believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth?

Baptism is an exorcism of sorts, from under the dominion of satan and into the life of God.
Honestly, you cannot measure baptism from Catholics to Baptists… there are just too many differences. For instance, how do you explain RC Tradition, Sacraments, Transubstantion, etc. it’s a different way!
It is different through circumstance and history your more recent tradition sees baptism differently from 95% of Christianity.
All the Ancient Apostolic Churches believe baptism is salvific and always baptised infants from the Apostolic times without question.
It is not that we are alien to you on baptism, you are alienated from us on baptism.
