Q. Why doesn't Mexico have an Olympic team?

A. Because any Mexican that can run, jump, or swim is already in the United States.

They're just walking across the bridges now. Maybe that's why "wetback" is now an "ethnic slur" instead of a descriptive term.

Here's the real problem with Mexicans in the U.S. I know a young man who described himself as Mexican. I asked him where he was born. He said California. I told him he was not a Mexican, he was and American, and he needed to drop the Mexican baloney. If he wanted to be a Mexican, he should head south and keep going.

Lack of assimillation is the problem.

Using it doesn't brand anyone a racist. Mexican is not a race. Period.

So the proper slur for you to use would be ethnicist. Right?

One good slur deserves another. Right?

Or we could just make it real easy on everybody and stop being jerks who use derogatory slurs against a group of people? I think that would probably be best.

Good idea. Does that mean you will stop being a jerk and slurring those as racist that use descriptive terms you object to?

I'm a jerk because I took exception to people calling Mexicans wetbacks?

Only on the Baptist Board folks.

I still remember the immigration rally where they all insisted they should be allowed to stay because they're Americans, but were all carrying Mexican flags.

ISIS and other terrorists continue to say they are going to invade the US through its southern border. The gate to an invasion for those who want to destroy the USA is quite clear. Anyone or group which waves the Mexican flag in the USA would certainly ally themselves with other invaders.

And they wonder why the hand of God continues to come against the wants and desires of political "conservatives".

Unrepentant wickedness deserves more of what it doesn't want.

You're a jerk because you wrongly called them a racist.

Pretty sure Hispanics constitute a race unless we are now to believe that all immigrants coming from south of the border are all Mexicans. Hint. We know that Latin Americans are coming from all South American communities as well as the Hispanic islands. It's all about respect. You don't think the word racist applies. Fine. How about bigot then? We know that the term wetback is a derogatory term and it's strange that you would be defending the use of ethnic slurs that are commonly accepted as offensive by most civilized people.

Defending the use of any slurs, whatever the nature of the slur, comes from a heart lacking in the compassion necessary to reflect the light of Jesus and carries one far from the heart of God.

Careful. I haven't defended the use of any slur.

But I do object to the kneejerk reaction to call one a racist (also a slur) unnecessarily and without full justification. It's far too often used by leftists to silence the opposition and marginalize entire groups of people.

While the descriptive term "wetback" may be politically incorrect and used as a prejorative at times, it is not racist any more than illegal alien is.

Some people are dramatically over-reacting.

Funny, reads like you're defending. Also, just hilarious that you're the one telling others to be careful.

Funny. Reads like you are defending the use of a slur, yourself.

Thus the "careful", lest you be guilty of what you accuse others of. Alas, it's too late.

Hispanics don't constitute a race technically speaking at the moment so I'll concede that but censuses are discussing changing it. I mentioned earlier that the use of the word bigot might apply but you didn't address that part for some reason. Lets get this out of the way so that we can all move out of pedantry and focus on the point. The comment wasn't racist, it was bigoted. There, now that that is done we can all move on and get out of legalism.

Are you ok with people slinging around the term wetback? Bottom line is that it is not the 1950's anymore and it is wrong. Ethnic slurs which I don't think even you can argue that that statement qualified as is not ok at all.

go2church isn't defending a slur at all and I'm not even sure how you came to that conclusion.
