As far as 2 Cor 4:3-4 goes, what it teaches still stands, those who are in a Lost state, the Gospel is hid from them, their minds are blinded by the god of this world, that they believe not 2 Cor 4:3-4
3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
The Gospel is hid to them that are Lost, nothing you can do or say to change it !
You still don't understand the function of the word "
IF" in 2 Cor 4:3, do you? The verse reads "But
if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost." It does not read "But our gospel is hidden, and it is hidden to the lost," as you are advocating. You keep skipping over the word "
IF" as though it were a set-in-stone truth that the gospel is absolutely hidden from the entirety of lost humanity. But the "
IF" informs the remainder of the verses, setting a condition on the gospel. If Paul had stopped preaching,
then the gospel would be hidden. So long as a preacher is there, the gospel is not hidden. Your statements that you are right and we are wrong, and nothing we can do will change the text are wrong. While it is becoming more and more apparent that nothing we do will change the way you've chosen to interpret the text, I will stand comfortably in the interpretation I have always known of this verse.
I'll even tell you this, savedbymercy...this scripture is the source of the first message I ever preached. The Sunday morning that I announced my calling into the ministry, I had been reading from 2 Corinthians for some time, and the Spirit kept bringing this word back to me, as an "oh me" kind of moment, as I had tried running from the calling. I can remember feeling the guiding hand of God as I preached about sitting down on the Word, and thereby hiding the gospel. I know what the Lord led me to that morning, in the scriptures and in prayer. It was definitely not the doctrine you are trying to pronounce.
