Good morning everyone! It is a little cooler here today. It is starting out in the 40's F, but it is supposed to be back in the 70's this afternoon. My 4-year old is having a Easter party at daycare today because they are closed on Good Friday. Hopefully it will dry enough that they can have it outside.

Thankful, glad to hear that Ed is feeling good enough to go back to work. Sorry that he decided to pass it on to you. Hopefully Muffin won't get it as well.

Blackbird, that is great news about your taxes. My dad got enough back that he doesn't have to pay his first quarter tax payment. I hope you filed on the 15th and not the 16th.

Sue, thanks for sharing the pictures of your family.

RSR, that was nice of the Little Rock Zoo to post pictures of your children on their website. :D

OK, we heard from rsr and blackbird, but where is jonmagee??

Jim thank you for that. I Think I will Thank the Lord now, I am His child! Isn't it wonderful that God always has time for us, no matter what is going on. He never says come back later! Praise the name of the Lord!

Good morning Everyone!

Nice cloudy day here. Rained all day yesterday, and last night. That lightening was something to get ya sitting up straight.

But today it is just cloudy. Winds have seemed to die down. yesterday they were at 26-36 miles.

So Sherrie aka kamikaze shopper lady, thanks for the forcast.

And Blackbird...congratulations. Glad to see you have some good fortune. What are you going to do with the money? Get your tractor fixed? Or are you going to do what we did...and just catch up the bills?

Missed you on the boards. You sort of left a Blackbird shaped hole around here. ;)

I'm trying to figure out how to post pictures here...it's so complicated.

Thankful

Betty, is Ed's surgery still scheduled for Friday? It is Good Friday. It is listed on my prayer calendar.
Yes, his surgery is tomorrow and we appreciate your prayers. We are concerned, but Ed's regular doctor assures him that it will not be a problem.

I hope your visit to the doctor is routine.
No, it wasn't. I just returned from the doctor's office. I had a lump on my neck (sympathizing with my husband, maybe).

The doctor removed it and Praise the Lord it was only a sebaceous cyst, which is not cancerous.

It had been there for a while, but suddenly, it started to grow and this concerned us. My doctor wouldn't do anything to it, but sent me to a surgeon. But I am fine.

Happy Easter, Everyone.

Happy Easter Betty. I'll be praying for you both.

Can anyone post a good site for posting pictures here ? Or tell me how to use the image thingy below? I took a couple digital pictures of my kids, and my website photo thing is really hard to use.

Thanks,
Laurenda

Its been a long week--not much postin' done by ole Blackbird this week--thus the "black hole" where Blackbird's post should have been!!

Ugly things happened this week--I get time I'll tell ya! Lets just say that I believe that I just may be in the "eye" of the hurricane--and just any minute know the wind will be comin' from the opposite direction--but--

I heard of a dairy farmer who had a weather vain mounted on the edge of his parlor. And underneath that vain was a little metal sign that swung around as part of the vain that read--"God is Love!"

Along comes a dairy salesman(wanting to sell the dairyman the latest "gizmo"--they're talking and chit chattin'--by and by there blows up a storm and wind--the wind starts spinnin' that weather vain round and round--first in this direction and then in that direction.

The salesmen looks up and sees that sign under the vain goin' round and round with the vain! "God is Love!" "God is Love" round and round! The salesman comments to the Dairyman--

"That sign up there on the vain that says "God is Love"--look at it goin' round and round. First in this direction and then in that direction! Does that mean that God's Love is as fickled as the wind?????!!!"

The Dairyman thinks a second and then says to the salesman--"No! No! It doesn't! That just means that whatever direction the wind is blowin'--God is always Love!!"

Ya'll help ole Blackbird remember that when he has to do what a Pastor has to do in a time of storm!! Please pray for me! I'll be back later on!

Your Southern Baptist preachin', storm ridin' buddy,
Blackbird

Good morning!

Blackbird, I pray that your "storm" passes quickly without causing much damage. As a preacher's kid, I have seen my dad go through many difficult times. A pastor's job is not an easy one.

Today i got my basal cell carcinoma lump
removed from off the back of my neck.
I have good health insurance so it only
cost me $15 direct. Now i think i will
take my wife out to lunch then
go to work this afternoon.

Remember that basal cell carcinoma is
cancer with a little "c" NOT cancer
with a captial "C". So i will be alright
for awile. Thank you for the prayers.
I turned it all over to the Lord,
8 times this morning alone :D

I have a question that I should probably post elsewhere, but I will try here first. As a Baptist, would you have any concerns sending one of your children to a Lutheran preschool? I don't think there would be any problems with it, but I thought I would get some input first.

My youngest son, Logan, will be 5 yrs old on Sept. 10, just 5 days before the kindergarten cutoff date. We have decided that it would probably be better to send him to preschool for a year first to provide a little more structure to help him prepare for kindergarten. He currently attends a daycare run by my wife's aunt and uncle. It has been wonderful, but we feel the switch to a preschool may help him make an easier transition to school.

There is a preschool in town run by the First Baptist Church. The only problem is that it is only open 8:00 a.m. - noon so we would have to find somewhere for him to go after noon. The Lutheran preschool is 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 and then it switches to daycare until 5:30 p.m. The Lutheran preschool also comes very highly recommended. We put his name on a waiting list last fall and they informed us recently that there is an opening for him this coming fall.

Like I said above, I don't think we will have any problems there, but I know little about the Lutheran church. I think there is a chapel service on Wednesday mornings that the children go to.

Hi Sherrie and all: Doesn't look like you're going to get much business over this holiday week-end. I will be busy preparing food for, and visiting with, my company. They will be here Saturday and Sunday.

Happy Easter All!

Thanks for the update Ed. Little "c" or big "C" it still isn't pleasant to deal with. I think my dad had a skin cancer removed from his face a few years ago, so I know a little about what you are dealing with. I pray that it will heal quickly and not cause you very much discomfort.

Good morning to all.

This is the day we lift Brother Ed before the holy of holies as he undergoes surgery. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and blessed be His holy name.

Yes, the pastoral role is a piece of cake. Sometimes the cake crumbles and it can be quite crummy. The cake dries out and needs refreshing. Then it sits idle too long and insects find their way in its midst. What a cake! Then, Oh, What a Saviour! Hang in there, Blackbird, the Lord is on your side.

I like the lessons from Samuel. He was just a lad ("But Samuel ministered before the Lord, being a child, girded with a linen ephod." I sam 2:18) If a little lad could minister unto the Lord, how much more we who are seasoned. Even though Samuel was but a child and could not possible earn the needs of his body, his mother brought him garments to wear; the Lord does provide. The boy was loved by both the Lord and his mother as he served. At the end of this chapter we read: "And the child Samuel grew on, and was in favour both with the Lord, and also with men".......he was gracious, obedient and kind.

Cheers,

Jim

Hmmm Guess I was typing away whilst you were all posting.

Rod...I do not think your little one going to the Lutheran preschool will hurt anything. He will be attending his own Baptist church on Sundays and be in the presence of his Christian family to teach him.

I was Lutheran most of my Childhood. One of the things I loved about being Lutheran, was we were taught the Lord's prayer and taught with scripture and what it actually meant. The same for the ten commandments and other things. But I do not think in preschool you will have to much theology. I loved Lutheran Kindergarten. Best cookies and Milk west of the Mississippi River! I do not think any harm will come to your son attending Lutheran preschool.
