"The End of the Spear"

I would hope you would be resistent, as a pastor, to believing all the rumors you here. The Idea that they got him off a gay mag is, in my opinion, unsubstantiated. It is, at this point, rumor.

If a documentary showed the native as they are, I take no great offense in that. It does not appeal to my sensual nature at all. My understanding is the footage of the natives in the documentary is actual footage shot by the missionaries. Again, you call them into question.

If a new convert was shown to be reading homosexual magazines, or taking part in anything that is sinful, it would be my responsibility to reveal it, and not to condone it.

The company is far from christian. Not only do they apparently think it is ok to read filthy magazines, but they also make films with nudity in them.

This was their first movie, but they also did a documentary on the missionaries in which they had nudity as well.

A true christian should be appalled at the production, and not promote it by paying to see it. Period.
FINALLY!! someone that is not being tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine and emotional "Christian" media feeding frenzy...FINALLY!! someone who is not standing in the haze of the strong delusion (brought on by not loving and excepting the truth)....FINALLY!! someone who stands on the Word of God, the D'var Elohiym as their only compass, and only barometer of what is right and accepted as the standard.I think I need to pinch myself...no better yet, a SLAP!! thanks...I needed that. :-D

Come out of her my people....He means it! Christ and belial have no fellowship.

I stand by my convictions. I stand on the Word of God. God tells us light has no fellowship with darkness.

Too many 'christian liberals' put down those who hold fast to the doctrine delievered once and for all unto the saints. They call those who preach this Word that liveth and abideth ever 'Pharisitical', or 'legalistic'.

Paul and Silas did not condone sin, but rather reproved and rebuked those that participated in such openly. They did not pat the sinner on the back and say 'keep up the good work.'

Paul wrote in the book of Ephesians, '... having done all, stand...' Daniel would not cease praying, the three hebrew children did not bow, and I will not back down from preaching the truth that the church is not to buddy up to the world.

==I don't think that is so. See here.. Seems pretty substantiated to me.

For those of you who consider a gay man acting as a Christian missionary, having a chance at "salvation" [chad allen already believes he is saved and in the favor of God] and therefore it is acceptable for him to "represent" the gospel in film - I am curious if this side of the coin has been examined:

quote taken from the link above:

4. Why Christians should be concerned

First, we must be careful about who we allow to have a platform of influence in the Christian community.

Chad Allen already has a substantial fan base due to his successful acting career. However, this movie will by far be one of his biggest splashes on the screen. No doubt, his fan base will explode, especially among Christian kids. Every email that is sent from evangelical teens will go through his hands. You cannot go to Chad’s website and spend any time there without seeing his homosexuality on display. At several points, kids can learn about gay publications, online magazines, and support groups for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and trans-gendered teens.

To demonstrate his fan appeal, I will quote a response from a magazine interview regarding people contacting him. Interviewer: “Have you experienced more people reaching out to you since your coming-out? Chad Allen: “Absolutely. There's a fan Web site, and that's become the epicenter for people, especially gay kids, who want to communicate and know about my story. Every E-mail that gets sent there eventually gets passed on to me. I spend a lot of time, more time than ever, working with young people, especially in the arena of drug abuse and dependency, people in chemical recovery programs-those issues and sexuality, and the way that those two go hand in hand so often, especially in our community.”
[end quote]

it's time to get real - please wake up and smell the coffee - at the very least, the future of your kids is at stake.

Standingfirm, No one is saying you should back down form you convictions, just your judgment. You have basically condemned everyone who is in anyway associated with the movie. You should give a lot more thought and investigation before you condemn. You don't know the man who made the movie or the circumstances around using Chad. And you have run with a rumor you heard about them picking him of a gay magazine. I have not seen that accusation confirmed yet, but you took it as the gospel. I don't agree with the use of Chad Allen, but I don't have enought information to condemn them, especially over a unsubstantiated rummer that they looked at a gay magazine.

Even Chad Allen has said that the folks at the company had made it clear they consider his lifestyle sinful.

How would you feel if I said you can't possible be a real preacher just because you were once in prison, without taking time to understand the circumstances and you current position. I just don't think your absolute judgement on the company is justified by the limited information you have on the company and the folks in it.

Bunyan,

Don't you think that if it were a false claim that Steve Saint read the article in a gay magazine and that influenced his choice of Chad Allen to play the part of his dad and himself, that Steve Saint would have refuted the claim by now?

Get real. Quit trying to defend sin.

I haven't heard any comments from Steve Saint. But you should keep rumors in the rumor file. And not condemn folks, based on rumors just because you reason that if it were not true, Steve would have said something about it. And although I think it was unwise and foolish for the to use Chad, I don't consider bad judgment a sin. I am certainly not going to crucify a Christian from a distance for things I have no first hand experience about.

Here is the problem as I see it. The same new age church, that runs off to see the Passion, even though it is filled with mystical visions, and stars people who are soft core porn actors, is the same church who swears that allegories are as good as the Gospel, is the same church that buys all of its books from zondervan, even though they know that rupert murdock owns it and another company that publishes the satanic bible and let's not forgot the questionable newspapers with nudity in England, is the same church that will embrace disney and even host it's night of joy Christian music festival in their theme park, is the same church that will turn around and be apologists for a "Christian" company who's flagship film stars a homosexual that they knew was gay when they cast him. Man oh man, am I feeling a little more than surreal right now. Talk about a run-on sentence, and I haven't even warmed up yet.

I guess all I need is PDL, a Message Bible, and a season pass to the theatre of my choice, and I'm in...

repeat after me....BE.....YE....SEPARATE..........

Funny, if a rumor were started about me reading a gay magazine or taking pleasure in sin, I would want to clear that up as quick as possible.

These 'rumors' as you call them, have not been refuted since they started at least three weeks ago. I submit if they were not true, Steve would have come forward to expose a lie about him by now.

Standingfirm, you can't be sure of that. If you were a nationally known personality and one or two web sites out of thousands were starting roumor about you, you would not likely bother with it. I know I would not. But if you are comfortable making judgements based on your assumptions about what Steve would do, go ahead. But don't expect him to seek you out and defend himself.

PS, why are you leaning braile, you are not going blind are you?

Me, too. It's quite unbelievable. La-la land. </font>[/QUOTE]I guess that I am not the only one who is tired of the luke warm laodicean church. aka "new age church". I would advise that people wake up now, or risk getting "spewed" out...could be painful

Bunyan,

I am blind. And I have already learned braille. I do need to brush up on it from time to time, as I do not use it as often as I should.

My blindness is due to retinitis pigmentosa and retinal deterioration. I have been blind since 1987.

I have learned the keys on the keyboard for typing. I also have Dragon Naturally Speaking Voice Recognition software that will allow me to talk to the computer and it types what I speak.

I also have a great text to speech program that reads aloud all typed text for me so I can hear what others type.

I have the audio version of the Bible, which is far easier to carry around (only 2 CD's) than my Braille KJV Bible. The book of Matthew alone in braille is 4 volumes; each one 3 inches thick.

When I preached using them, I usually brailled out my sermon outline using my Perkins Brailler, a braille typewriter with only 9 keys.

I have a brother who has retinosa pigmentosa. He can read but he has to hold the book real close. He is a lawyer now.

You know now a days you can download audible books like the bible onto Ipods and things like them. No cd's to worry with, and much smaller. Smaller than a palm.

How good is that voice recomendation you mentioned? does it work really well.
