2 Thess 2:13-14

13 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:

14 Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Salvation through the Sanctifying Work of the Spirit unto belief of the Truth/Gospel is not something that can be done by the freewill of man, but its something one must have been Chosen to, and God is the source of it and He alne should be Thanked for it, which is crystal clear from the texts.

Now many will pervert the Truth of God argue that the word chosen here does not mean election, however that is a lie, it does mean election. It is the greek word haireo and means : To choose or prefer, to lay hold of by personal choice, to take, to choose. The word also in the text is in the middle voice denoting God's Sovereign choice for Himself. This action by God agrees with the word chosen in Eph 1:4

4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

Here however the Holy Spirit inspires Paul to use a different greek word eklego which ALSO means :

I choose, elect, pick out for myself, select and it also has the same exact greek construction of a:

Tense: Aorist
Mood: Indicative
Voice: Middle

Person: 3rd Person
Number: Singular

The Emphasis is on what God has chosen for Himself !

The same thing is True of the same group, the Church in the OT Deut 7:6

6 For thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God: the Lord thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.

In fact the Chosen here, in Eph 1:4, and 2 Thess 2:13 are all the same people, God has only One specially Chosen People and that in Christ, for they are chosen in Himself because Christ is God, and God has no chosen people outside of Himself /Christ ! And all such chosen, are chosen unto Salvation unto the belief of the Truth / Gospel through the Work of the Spirit, chosen from before the foundation !
Since you are a supralapsarian why do you bother? After all they are elected by God to never agree with you and nothing you say or do will change that fact. Since, you believe God is the first cause of evil (to include Moral Evil and not just Calamity) God has elected evil for them. They are programed that way and cannot change because God decreed it. Thus to cause a ruccous and accusation against them is a waste of time and really unjust since it was God's fault to begin with. Instead of arguing with Yeshua1 and Biblicist and DHK just argue with God but he's already decreed their outcome according to you so there is nothing for you to do. And if you decide to sin (not that you will but if you do) no worries because God decreed that sin too. Because the more you sin the better you make Jesus look. So in your belief system you can rejoice that they aren't elected and sin all they wan't as well as you can be elected and sin all you want because the more evil you participate in which God has created the more Jesus looks good.

Such is the supralapsarian view. Most here fall under the infralapsrian and amyraldism view though there are a few Arminianist here.

You quoted a post then evaded my points made! Did you understand them, though you may not agree with them? Please review them with me, so then we can discuss them!

Why? You simply regurgitated word for word the previous post that you had posted. IOW you take up needless space bumping this to the top by re-posting your previous lengthy post. I answered it with the same answer given before. Consider it well.

Identifying those who shall believe !

Jesus prayed for them that shall believe through their word Jn 17:20

20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their [The Apostles] word;

This means through their Preaching of the Gospel, the Word of Truth Eph 1:13 !

Now who is it that shall believe their Gospel ? Its them who first have had the Word put into their Heart ! Paul when writing the Book of Romans made this statement as it pertained to some who had the Gospel sent to them in order to bring about their obedience to it Rom 10:8

8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;

Notice his words carefully:

The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart

Now why did he say that, that the word was in their heart ? Well Paul was a sent Minister of the New Covenant/ Testament 2 Cor 3:6

6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

And Paul now knew of the New Covenant Promises to the People of God, whether jew or Gentile, which are here, God promised this Jer 31:33

33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the Lord, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

Heb 8:10

10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:

See where its stated that God will write His Law into their Hearts ? That Law is the word of the Gospel. The word Law does mean Doctrine and or Instruction, which could be understood of the Doctrines of the Gospel Rom 6:17

17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.

The Gospel has with it Spiritual Instruction that it effects, in that it converts the soul Ps 19:7

The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.

Cp 2 Tim 3:15

15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

And those who according to the New Covenant Promise, have this word, law, Gospel written in their Hearts, they shall obey the Gospel, the Law, the Word, whenever it comes to them in the Power of the Holy Spirit, converting them to Faith in Christ Ezk 36:26-27

26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.

27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

In which case the doing is submitting to Gospel Obedience unto Jesus Christ !

The Gospel brings forth fruit !

Col 1:5-6

5 For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel;

6 Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth:

The Gospel brings forth fruit unto God, but thats when its being the Power of God, by the power of the Holy Spirit causing some to believe it Rom 1:16

16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

The word power here dynamis denotes efficacy:

the ability to produce desired results; effectiveness. Results or fruit !

Jesus told His Disciples this while judas was gone Jn 15:16

16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit Col 1:6, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

The bringing forth of fruit is to make/beget believers of the Gospel !

Remember Jesus said Jn 17:20

20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word=their fruit;

Those that believe through their word is their fruit. Paul said to some of the Corinthian Believers 1 Cor 3:5

5 Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man?

1 Cor 4:15

15 For though ye have ten thousand instructers in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.

James writes of this James 1:18

18 Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

The Gospel is the word of Truth !Eph 1:13

13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

And it causes the regenerate to believe by the persuasive Power of the Holy Spirit. When the Gospel is preached to the regenerate, the good soil, it brings forth fruit Matt 13:23

23 But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

The Gospel brings forth spiritual life 2 Tim 1:10

10 But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:768

preached unto you the forgiveness of sins !

Acts 13:38

38 Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins:

Now exactly who is it that has to them preached the forgiveness of sins ? Why first of all it is to them that have Forgiveness of sins ! Remember Paul wrote to the Ephesians, those Chosen in Christ Eph 1:4 these words Eph 1:7

7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

Also Paul is following the directive of Christ that He gave to them that were Apostles before him Lk 24:45-49

45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,

46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:

47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

48 And ye are witnesses of these things.

49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

Look at Vs 47 How they are to Preach Remission / Forgiveness of sins in His Name !

Now Paul specifiys in the context of Acts 13, exactly who it is that this Forgiveness of sins is Preached to Acts 13:16

16 Then Paul stood up, and beckoning with his hand said, Men of Israel[Elect People], and ye that fear God[Regenerated People], give audience.

Notice that it is Preached to them that Fear God, David once wrote Ps 130:4

4 But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared.

Only those who have been given a New Heart, One that Fears God, which man doesnt have by nature Rom 3:18, only then do we have a Legitiment right to have the forgiveness of sins preached unto us. Again Paul states exactly who it is that the Word of Salvation is being sent Acts 13:26

26 Men and brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and whosoever among you feareth God, to you is the word of this salvation or forgiveness of sins sent.

If we are not of the whosoever that is fearing God by New Birth and New Heart, this Word of Salvation/ Forgiveness of sins, is not said to be sent you !

preached unto you the forgiveness of sins !2

It may be argued that Paul was speaking to jews in Acts 13, and that would be correct, but its also true that the same words he preached to the jews, he preached the next sabaath to the Gentiles Acts 13:42

42 And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath.

For the same principle of sending the Gospel/Word of Salvation to those who Fear God among the Gentiles is seen as it regarded Cornelius and his house, where it reads Acts 10:1-2,22

There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band,

2 A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.

22 And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by an holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words of thee.

And so Christ sent Peter to Preach to them the Word of Salvation Acts 10:34-44

34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

36 The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all)

37 That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judaea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;

38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

39 And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree:

40 Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly;

41 Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead.

42 And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead.

43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.

44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

s you can see in Vs 43 Forgiveness of sins was Preached to these Gentiles. The Holy Ghost sealed them that heard the Gospel of their Salvation as Per Eph 1:13

13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

See Cornelius and those in house that feared God had received remission of sins Vs 43, that what Jesus meant by giving Peter the Vision earlier of the unclean animals, typifying the Gentiles, that by His Blood they had been cleansed and are clean Acts 10:15

15 And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common

Now that word cleansed is the word katharizo and means:

iii.to free from guilt of sin[which is forgiveness], to purify. Its the same word Jesus used to describe His Disciples except judas Jn 13:10

Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all.

So Cornelius had already received forgiveness of sins/ Salvation as his portion, prior to God sending him by Peter the Message of Salvation to Preach to him, so he might believe it Acts 10:43-44

43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.

44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

This also means the Salvation and the Forgiveness of sins are One and the Same Blessing. In fact if we study the Truth of Salvation as it is Taught in the scriptures, one of its branches is Salvation or Saved from the penalty of sin, which is derived from the forgiveness of its Guilt.

So when its said that Peter or Paul Preached unto them the Forgiveness of sins, it was to inform the forgiven and to seal it to their Minds, that which was already laid to their charge or account, Salvation by the Forgiveness of sins Lk 1:77

77 To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins,

Salvation here is Identified with remission or forgiveness of sins, and this Message will be sent to them that Fear God !

The Primary and Initial Rule of the Gospel as it pertains to Salvation, is that its sent by God as a testimony from Him of ones Justification and Righteousness in Christ their Surety before Faith makes it known to their consciousness Heb 9:14

14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

For the Testimony is Rom 5:6

6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. He died for our Sins 1 Cor 15:3

And by that death, all for whom Christ died, they were Justified before God by His Blood Rom 5:9 and Reconciled to God while enemies Rom 5:10, which simply means before Faith or believing.

You see before Faith and even before we had a being literally in this life physically, Christ hath already before God's Law and Justice Col 2:14-15

14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

This was solely accomplished by His Cross, and this is Justification by His Blood or because of His Blood and Reconciliation by His Death, before we are given both being and faith. The blessing of what Christ did for me in Col 2:14 is not contingent upon my faith, for I had no being at all when He did that for me or any other elect person He died for and satisfied God's Law and Justice for !

To deny this is to deny the Gospel. This His death, as in He died for us Rom 5:6-8, it put away our sin and condemnation which was written against us Col 2:14, for it was imputed to Christ, and He by His death perfected us forever Heb 10:14, and giving us also a irreversible Eternal Redemption and Justification Heb 9:12

12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal Redemption / Justification for us.

This is God's Testimony in the Gospel for all for whom Christ died !296

He shall Testify of Me !

Jn 15:26

26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify/bear witness of me:

What I believe Jesus to be saying here to His Church, that following His Death for them, the Comforter, which is the Holy Spirit, will be sent to them to bear witness of Him,and yet this Work/Mission of the Spirit is not restricted to them only, but for the whole ransomed Church which He gave Himself in behalf of Matt 20:28

28 Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

1 Tim 2:6

6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

God by the Spirit would give Apostolic Testimony to all the ransomed Isa 35:10

They shall believe on Christ by their [The Apostles] word Jn 17:20

20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall [inevitably] believe on me through their word;

The Spirits coming, the Spirit of Truth, in the economy of Salvation, was to give Testimony inwardly of the Truth of Christ[The Gospel of their Salvation], to all the ransomed, redeemed Church of God, bringing them to Faith !

Gospel to be Preached in all the World !

Why was the Gospel to be Preached in all the World ? Mk 16:15-16

15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

Most spiritually unlearned people appeal to a passage such as this, and force it to mean that God would have mankind to have a chance at believing the Gospel and get themselves saved; Yet though Jesus did command His disciples to go into all the world to preach the Gospel, God had different purposes in doing so ! In the Purpose of God, the Gospel was to be for some a savor of Life unto Life, but also to others it was designed to be a savor of death unto death 2 Cor 2:14-16

14 Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.

15 For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:

16 To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?

The Gospel goes into the World and finds the ears of two different types of people, them that are saved, and them that perish or who are lost ! That word perish in Vs 15 is the greek word apollymi and its the same word translated lost in 2 Cor 4:3

But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost

So the True Believer, who believes in Election, doesnt believe the Gospel should not be preached in all world, but we understand that it is to be preached to all, but that it in the purpose of God will serve different ends, we know that to the saved, it shall be a savor of life unto life, and to them that perish or are lost, it serves as a savor of death unto death, and hence either way, it serves the Purpose of God, Isaiah wrote Isa 55:11

So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that[purpose] which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

Two types of people live in this world, Vessels of wrath, and Vessels of Mercy, to the vessels of wrath, the word is sent to be a message of death, to the Vessels of Mercy, its the Message of Life , all to the Glory of God !

He holds that the elect are eternally been saved by the Cross, so already reconciled back to God before even hearing and believing on jesus!

Yes he is, Darrell. SBM holds that the saved are born saved and the lost are born already damned. He believes the gospel is permanently hidden from the lost. The gospel, essentially, in his theology does nothing more than assure the saved that they are saved. He is our resident poster child for hyper-Calvinism.

He holds that the elect are eternally been saved by the Cross, so already reconciled back to God before even hearing and believing on jesus!
Sorry, Y1, I just saw your response.

I won't argue on here about what was said... Only add this!

John 3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:

15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Belief comes only from God!... btw believeth is past tense!... I agree with the brother... Brother Glen
