preached unto you the forgiveness of sins !2
It may be argued that Paul was speaking to jews in Acts 13, and that would be correct, but its also true that the same words he preached to the jews, he preached the next sabaath to the Gentiles Acts 13:42
42 And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue,
the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath.
For the same principle of sending the Gospel/Word of Salvation to those who Fear God among the Gentiles is seen as it regarded Cornelius and his house, where it reads Acts 10:1-2,22
There was a certain man in Caesarea called
Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band,
2 A devout man, and
one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.
22 And they said, Cornelius the centurion,
a just man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by an holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words of thee.
And so Christ sent Peter to Preach to them the Word of Salvation Acts 10:34-44
34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:
35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.
36 The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all)
37 That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judaea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;
38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.
39 And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree:
40 Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly;
41 Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead.
42 And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead.
43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.
44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
s you can see in Vs 43 Forgiveness of sins was Preached to these Gentiles. The Holy Ghost sealed them that heard the Gospel of their Salvation as Per Eph 1:13
13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the
gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed,
ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
See Cornelius and those in house that feared God had received remission of sins Vs 43, that what Jesus meant by giving Peter the Vision earlier of the unclean animals, typifying the Gentiles, that by His Blood they had been cleansed and are clean Acts 10:15
15 And the voice spake unto him again the second time,
What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common
Now that word cleansed is the word katharizo and means:
iii.to free from guilt of sin[which is forgiveness], to purify. Its the same word Jesus used to describe His Disciples except judas Jn 13:10
Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is
clean every whit:
and ye are clean, but not all.
So Cornelius had already received forgiveness of sins/ Salvation as his portion, prior to God sending him by Peter the Message of Salvation to Preach to him, so he might believe it Acts 10:43-44
43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name
whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.
44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
This also means the Salvation and the Forgiveness of sins are One and the Same Blessing. In fact if we study the Truth of Salvation as it is Taught in the scriptures, one of its branches is Salvation or Saved from the penalty of sin, which is derived from the forgiveness of its Guilt.
So when its said that Peter or Paul Preached unto them the Forgiveness of sins, it was to inform the forgiven and to seal it to their Minds, that which was already laid to their charge or account, Salvation by the Forgiveness of sins Lk 1:77
77
To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins,
Salvation here is Identified with remission or forgiveness of sins, and this Message will be sent to them that Fear God !
