How do you know, maybe she was? Maybe he knew something you didn't.

And certainly denouncing her from the pulpit was the prescribed New Testament method of correcting a sister in error.

If we're talking about the same Larry Brown (the one who likes to wave a white hankie in a circle), he preached at our church many times. Once he jumped up on the back of the pew, pointed his finger at my husband, and called him a 'bonehead'.

I sure did love the bags of pecans his father brought me every time they came to IL though.

We didn't get offended at Larry Brown's antics. We just thought it was funny. I'm not sure I would want that every Sunday though...

We have beaten this horse to death so many times over the years...

Have a TV or don't have a TV, but please don't tell me I'm sinning by doing either one.

AMEN Sue!! This horse (TV?) has been dead for a very long time--time to shut it down or bury it, me thinks.

This poor preacher has been ostracized by the majority on BB who wouldn't know him if they triped over him in the middle of the road.

Uh . . . his picture is on the site.

I saw Larry Brown climb up on top of the pulpit while he was preaching. When he got up there, it tipped up ever so slightly on one end, everybody cringed and held their breath to see if it would go over, and it came back down and we exhaled. I think he's a lunatic.

As to beating the dead horse, we're only doing what we do best on this board. Why stop now? ;)

We need more guys like him who will get behind the pulpit and PREACH!!!

I have no patience for anyone who equates emotional tirades with good preaching.

yep, "Don't tell me to have the tv or not, I have enough sense to simply change the channel!", that is right after I see a glimpse of those scantilly clad girls bouncing their behinds off each other in that "real tv' commercial!:tonofbricks:

Yes, well this is the same pastor who's teaching his dear children many things. Here's an example from his wife's blog just this month (you can get to this blog through the church site):

My kids had the following conversation at the store yesterday, very loudly, and within ear shot of several other customers:

John (4 years old): Barack Obama, and the devil, and the government are worser than anything else in the world.

Isaac (5 years old): Mom, John actually told me that he thinks Barack Obama is worse than the faggots.

Ah, precious moments!

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. - Proverbs 22:6

Nice. Godly. Unbelievable.

What's this got to do anything with all the trash one gets exposed to just wanting to watch a little tv?

I thought this thread was about the "hell-a-vision" not the pastor and his family!

Oh my, Annsni.

I grew up that way. I could tell you stories! I don't want that life for my children. I want them to truly know the love of Christ!

A couple pages ago, though, I laughed so hard for so long, imagining a preacher jumping on a pew and calling a stranger a bonehead. That is hilarious to me!
