The so-called "many" are those who, like you do not own a copy of it. Therefore they speak out of the abundance of their ignorance. Aside from myself there are a number here who quite eagerly say the 2011 edition is superior to the 1984.

You're in luck. That's what the NIV does! (By the way, 'meant' and 'intended' are redundant.)

I find it interesting that many of those who admonish the KJVO crowd also show strong opposition to those who support the updated (2011) edition of the NIV, as well.

It makes me wonder which Bible translations are capable of meeting their standards.

Those would be the ones that have no issues with so much Inclusive language in a translation!

The more formal ones such as nas and Nkjv and not into so much inclusive languaging!

Well, on another thread JonC asked the question "How many here like gender exclusive language?" That would fit you to a T.

You are languishing in the wilderness of pseudo-English.

The NIV is a good version to use as a comparison bible, along with the NET.

I've come to believe that the NIV, for the most part, strikes an almost perfect balance between formal equivalence and functional equivalence.

Is it perfect? Of course not. Does it have its shortcomings? Of course it does.

But there's a reason so many believers use it as their primary Bible translation. (And a very good one, at that.)

The 1984 Niv I would agree with you on, but not this 2011 edition!

Many feel that the CSB does better as a "mediating" translation!

Y, you have been all over the board about the CSB. In other words; you make contradictory statements. A person can change their mind granted. However, you are as fickle as can be.

Would not use either translation, but from what I can read, the Csb is better done then the niv!

"From what you can read" huh? That would severely limit your knowledge of the translation.

Read as in what others have stated about those 2 translations!

I know this sounds radical, but you need to read actual texts for yourself. Do your own homework as I have told you often.

On a personal note, it's so nice to be reading from the NIV again.

When I briefly switched to the ESV, it (quite frankly) made reading the Bible a chore for me.

Switching back to the NIV made me gain a newfound appreciation for it.

One might say I've returned to my "first love," so to speak. :D
