Gotta laugh from your last message Jim, a Canadian girl was housekeeper at a property/station I was working on as a governess, she said something a dinnertime with the family which was no big deal for Canadians but you could have heard a pin drop, the word had an extremely rude connotation here in Oz,fortunately granny rescued the situation by collapsing into a fit of the giggles and the poor lass apologised when it was explained to her. It was very funny in hindsight however...
Correct me if I am wrong, is 40F slightly above freezing, are you able to trot about in shorts and singlets or have I grasped the wrong end of the thermometer here!
Granny Gumbo, please send me an armidillo..... my cats eyes would pop..... saw some rainbow lorikeets in the yard today, they were looking for nectar laden plants which I do not have on account of the feline rascals that I have. They are very pretty birds, but like most Australian birds have raucous voices....

Briony-Gloriana! I enjoy reading your posts...you have a "strange" way of talking, haha, but it's refreshing! Wish I could send you all of them varmints! Not only are we pestered by armadillos, but possums & skunks, too!
At one time I counted 25 cats around my house, but gave up after that...you'd think with that many felines, I wouldn't have a mouse problem. hmmmm~do ya think they're lazy? I know, I know, I am a spoiler. ~rolling my eyes~

BroDan~I do tend to spoil 'em---can't help myself. I go thru bags & bags of catfood & dogfood, birdseed, etc. Even the guineas get in on the feedings. I make them a pan of cornbread, hahaha.
When company drops by, there is always a pie or cake ready. And fresh-ground coffee! When the children were still home, we'd have our 8ft. table full. The Mister built it with benches.

We had one in the house for many years & "miss priss" decided she wanted to explore the great outdoors...
During my yard $ale last year, she "escaped" into the wild, never to be seen again, until the dreaded "THUMP" that comes when a car has hit something. Oh, it was a very sad day indeed.
But hey! With all those others I am not alone! Well, feeding time on the hill...meow-meow.

We don't always allow the cats outdoors, but they will find their own way out,,,,screened windows...a sudden open door, and zip, they are gone...we have only lost two cats over the years.....one lost cat keeps coming back and buzzes off again,,he is well fed though...Guess he just comes back for the reunion.
We are 1/4 mile from the roadway, so they have all the woods and acreage to romp about.

Well, here is a treat for a nutty cat lady, and I thought everyone must hate the cunning things. I have a new fella who cruises in and checks out the cat tray and has selected a choice bit of floor. I have polished wooden floors, and it is annoying to see how quickly dust bunnies form with all that shedded fur!!!
Removed an exhausted lizard last night cos the cats bring them in and promptly lose them. They like them for the play and chase appeal. Some lizards have very poor traction on the floor however and it provides hours of entertainment I suspect for the cats when I am not home.
Read in our paper today that because Australia has gone mad with litigation, the government in its wisdom wants to ban cake stalls and the like which are used in fund raising by volunteers for all sorts of good works. I am sure you have something similar in the States. It is to be decided but cakes need to be made in registered commercial kitchens to prevent litigation in the event of food poisoning or similar!!!!!
Any ideas on how to circumvent such craziness.I get good sales of my chocolate crackles and cakes and lamingtons etc. and I know that schools and churches are going to be seriously inconvenienced if this latest nonsense is allowed to go through parliment....

In the 70s all week long! A little rain must fall, but who cares? Not me!
We had a mama cat once who had her babies under the house...now I didn't want that, so I told her to go get them & pointed under there as I said it! Would ya believe that cat "listened" & promptly brought all babies out?!
No cat better ever bring me a lizard! YIKES! BG-after a year, I am "still" gathering cat fur from our housepet...it's in everything! The thing I don't miss about her is the ton o'fur that slept on me everynight!

Well, to-day is March 1st, the beginning of the end of winter. It is also a Welesh national holiday, Dewi Sant day,,,St. David's Day, the patron saint of Wales, and my younger granddaughter's birthday.
I am busy once again with the architectural work and have two drawings to work on for spring building. So, off and on as I can.
