Wow, I disagree completely. This nation is becoming fatter by the minute and long term health complications are popping up all over the place. Watch "super size me"... that guy simply eats at McDonald's every day and winds up with lots of health issues including serious liver problems within a month. Is that not a poison? How can it not be??? Alot of people would be absolutely shocked if you actually sat down and intelligently thought about what you are putting into your bodies.
How about KFC? Have you ever studied the amounts of cholesterol, sodium, and calories that you are consuming with a 3 piece meal?
How about hot dogs and bologna? It has sodium nitrate in it, which can give you cancer. If you don't believe me ask my grandfather who has always loved his daily bologna sandwiches and now has rectal cancer which has spread to his liver. Is this not a poison?
Soft drinks? You can dissolve an entire 10 penny nail in Coca-Cola. Need I say more?
How about the Adkin's diet? The very thing that these dieters are checking for to ensure success is a poison that your body is trying to flush out. You cannot burn protein as a main energy source then pack your colon full of nothing but rotten animal flesh and not expect alot of poisons to be in your blood. This is absolutely horrible for your kidneys and it promotes colon cancer.
I'm sorry, but you can do ALOT more damage to your body by eating seemingly normal food regularly than you can by drinking a small amount of alcohol on an infrequent basis, so yes, food CAN be a poison. Actually, numerous studies have shown that small amounts of alcohol can prevent heart disease, and red wine and dark beer is packed full of antioxidants which can slow some byproducts of aging and prevent cancer. Mild drinkers as a group are actually living longer than both non-drinkers and heavy drinkers due to this.
Just remember that you can in fact dig a grave with a fork. Yes you can drink yourself to death too, but that's not what we're talking about, it's whether even a little bit is ok. If some of your arguments are based off of health reasons including it being a poison to your body, you simply cannot ignore the food/gluttony issue. Not trying to be abrasive about this, but it really bothers me how our health as a nation is going down the tubes and we're doing nothing but getting fatter and having more health complications, yet I guess that's perfectly ok as long as they never drink a glass of wine, right?
