I didn't like dove hunting. I missed almost always, which didn't bother me. I am not a vigilante or anything close to it. But I am under obligation to defend those who cannot defend themselves. I have no interest in joining law enforcement, one because I am almost retirement age.
The chance of you ever having to show a gun is nearly zero. I believe @Salty shared the NPR article that showed this data. Therefore, no need for conceal and carry. Most people I know who conceal and carry have a false bravado about themselves and really aren't trained. I know of only one person in our church who has been a special ops trainer and has great respect for gun safety. He never portrays any bravado about gun use or carrying. I trust him. There is no one else in my church who I would truly trust with a gun.

I'm all for it.

Everywhere concealed carry is allowed crime goes down. NPR are anti-Second Amendment and liars. They hate the freedom that firearms bring.

Not so in my neck of the woods. Everyone practices that I know. No one shows off. Your lack of trust does not overthrow our Constitutional Rights.

and when you go boating, "The chance of you ever having to show a life preserver is nearly zero." But it sure is nice to have it when it is needed!
In fact, in most states/commonwealths - it is a law to have life preservers and in addition:a "U.S. Coast Guard interim rule requires children under 13 on moving boats to wear a U.S. Coast Guard approved life jacket that fits.:

And Austin - I know that you would love to live in Kennesaw, Ga; Nelson, Ga; Gun Barrel City, Tx; or Virgin, Utah.

Sure you can go to a range and shoot. It's purpose, however, is to discipline your aim to be deadly when pointing it at a living, God created, being.

I had firearms training (I grew up in God's country where there were more animals than humans and nearly everyone hunted.) I tried pheasant hunting once. I was bored silly and found no thrill in shooting at a bird. Since God has farmers doing the work, I choose to go to the store and buy my bird. I do not begrudge a person hunting game for the family. This is legal and generally safe.

Become a sheriff's deputy. Walk the beat. Be the person who is there if bad happens. If you really want to run to the fight, join law enforcement.
I am retired L.E. Beat cop, Investigator, Under cover Narcotics, SWAT, did it all.
So, was it Right for me to use a gun when on duty, but wrong off duty? Wrong now that I am retired?
L.E. taught me that there is a tremendous amount of evil in this world. Force stops that evil.

I bet you wouldn't even use force if you walked in on someone raping your wife. Raping your daughter.
I would triple tap him and "Let God sort it out "

Difference, life preservers save lives. Guns take lives...even if you think you are justified.

And the Bible commands the life of some to be taken.
I think you should stare evil in the eyes. I think you should arrest and interview a serial killer. I think you should listen to him talk about raping, killing, dismembering, and throwing a 14 year old girl in a dumpster. The whole time you know that you are in the presence of the demonic. If you don't have the resolve in you to kill that animal if it attacked your family, you are no man. You are a coward.

Austin- you need to realize two major things!
1) Just showing a weapon will often end a thread.
2) If I have to fire a weapon to end a threat- it would have been the decision of the criminal for me to fire said weapon!

Bottom line both a firearm and a life preserver can save lives - IF they are available.

I have a few friends who have been involved in drive-by shootings. One had his spleen removed from being hit twice. He was just shooting hoops. If you drew a gun, you would be the target. In my life, living in a large city, there has never been a reason to carry a gun or use it. A person should live by the rule that nothing good happens after 10pm. Don't hang in places where gangs are going to roam. Trust your life to God and know that God promises you a supernatural Holy Spirit work if you are called on to share your faith in those situations.

Thanks for the reminder

But then again - have not seen my doctor in 2 years - they wont let me in the VA
because I cant wear a mask. The Local VA director will not budge - he is going by the letter of of the rules. Hmmm, I wonder if his first name is Austin

Maybe you should seek treatment for "not being able to wear a mask". If they give you a portable oxygen generator, turn it up high enough and you can wear a mask.

You certainly could do that. Odds are you won't need the life preserver. However...the law says you have to have one so...obey.

If I lived there I would have to own a gun. Odds are I'd accidentally shoot a hole in the neighbors car tire, which would result in my house being riddled with bullets and all of us in the house...dead.

1) Not necessarily - depends on the State/Commonwealth

2) Why do you recommend "Snarky"

3) so if you lived in one of those 5 cities - you are saying you would then own a firearm?
(and an answer of "I would not move there" is not acceptable - as the question asks IF you lived there")

In that case, I would be cautious in even giving you a drivers licence!
