Trump Asks Christians to Pray for Him, Not All Leaders

1 Timothy 2:1 Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men,
2 for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.
3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,

Trump told the [evangelical] audience that Christians should really be praying for people to vote for "one specific person," saying that political leaders have sold Christianity "down the tubes."

"Some of the people are saying, 'let's pray for our leaders.' I said, 'You can pray for your leaders, and I agree with that, pray for everyone. But what you really have to do is pray to get everyone out to vote for one specific person,'" Trump said, according to another video posted by Jackson. "We can't be politically correct and say we pray for all of our leaders because all of your leaders are selling Christianity down the tubes and selling evangelicals down the tubes and it is a very bad thing that is happening."

How far from God are evangelicals going to go in following this man? Is not the Great Commission to bring people to Jesus, not to the GOP?

This is consistent with Trump's disregard for religious liberty. He has no qualms about telling Christians who to pray for. He wants us to disregard what Jesus said about praying for one's enemies (if this superChristian even knows what Jesus said about it) in favor of his point-of-view.

What will this tendency to dictate Christian practice look like if he gains political power?

How far from God are evangelicals going to go in following this man?
I am afraid we are about to find out. I understand the conflict with the choice between voting for Clinton vs. Trump, but I simply don't understand how a Christian could embrace this man's campaign.

This man's megalomania will have dire effects on the United States if we put him into power.

Trump is correct, the Left and wimpy Right have been selling Christianity down the tubes for the sake of "political correctness" for decades so it is no surprise the same now go on the attack toward the Evangelicals who are willing to support the man who has pledged to stand up for Christian Religious Liberty. The PC police are coming out the woodwork to tell Christians its wrong to vote their conscience if it is in consideration of their own religious beliefs.

It far past time we get back to the Christian principles which has made this country great. If God chooses to use Trump to make this happen that is fine with me. More than fine, it is a major selling point for me and should be for any true believer in the value of having our country allowed Christian principles while they are strongly protected and upheld.

The people who sell the name of Christ "down the tubes" are the people who claim to follow Jesus but seem willing to jettison the teachings of Jesus if they think they can get political power. The cause of Christ is severely damaged because many Christian "leaders" have no credibility.

The PC police are coming out the woodwork to tell Christians its wrong to vote their conscience if it is in consideration of their own religious beliefs.
If you are in Christ, then you must vote according to Christ's teachings.

If God chooses to use Trump to make this happen that is fine with me.
If God does it, fine. If Christians vote against the teachings of Jesus to do it, then that's an abomination. Christians must not intentionally do the wrong thing and claim that God will somehow fix it? Some have claimed, let us to evil so that good many increase - their damnation is just.

More than fine, it is a major selling point for me and should be for any true believer in the value of having our country allowed Christian principles while they are strongly protected and upheld.
The First Amendment already does that, and Trump wants to undermine it. So you obviously need to avoid voting for Trump.

You know ITL, he's pulled the scab off one of the sinful acts that pervades throughout the evangelical church. I've told folks on here and throughout the SBC that I believe this unrepentant sin is one of the primary reasons that evangelicals and Christians in general are losing their mantle to share the Gospel.

You can't tell me that you are sincerely , from the love of Christ that indwells you as a Christian, praying as prescribed in Scripture for a leader like, say Barack Obama, while calling him all sorts of names and cursing him underneath your breath.

It's insincere and sinful and Trump just exposed again an attribute that was already present in the GOP.

This I don't get at all. If you don't like Hillary, that's fine. Don't vote for her. But to vote for this man who is the antithesis of all things Godly is perplexing to say the least.

Apparently some here think that voting for 1 of 2 humans is more important than what Jesus thinks of your vote.

And what does Jesus think of your vote? Do you know? If God would tell hosea to marry a harlot-- and one named ggomer at that-- is he concerned with facts he knows ALL about, or does concern himself with our ability to tell an F candidate from an F- candidate?

Ever consider that perhaps Jesus will think of your vote as wimpy? After all, He placed us on this earth and blessed us with sense, reason and intellect and has placed a choice before us to use it, but yet you want to hold on to your choice/vote for Him. ...This reminds of the thinking of the servant's strategy who was blessed with 10 pounds and upon the master's return it was discovered that he/you had gained ABSOLUTELY nothing, in fact, merely hid the money/didn't use your vote or use your God given attributes to make a rationally reasoned choice while instead claiming he/you feared your Master was too strict as an excuse for your inaction. ;)

Luk 19:15-23
(15) And it came to pass, that when he was returned, having received the kingdom, then he commanded these servants to be called unto him, to whom he had given the money, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading.
(16) Then came the first, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained ten pounds.
(17) And he said unto him, Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities.
(18) And the second came, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained five pounds.
(19) And he said likewise to him, Be thou also over five cities.
(20) And another came, saying, Lord, behold, here is thy pound, which I have kept laid up in a napkin:
(21) For I feared thee, because thou art an austere man: thou takest up that thou layedst not down, and reapest that thou didst not sow.
(22) And he saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked servant. Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up that I laid not down, and reaping that I did not sow:
(23) Wherefore then gavest not thou my money into the bank, that at my coming I might have required mine own with usury?

To sin is to miss hitting the bulls-eye dead center perfect, no one is perfect, so not an excuse, unless you think your conscience is otherwise perfectly satisfied on this earth. Go hide your vote if you must...

Huh? It was a simple yes or no question. So many words to say so little...

A reasonable argument cannot be made against another's conscience.

No reasoning needed. Just give me a simple Yes or No?

It's more than likely that I will not be voting for president.

The Spin Doctor at work again, I see.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that I seriously doubt my Savior is going to be angry with me for not voting for a lying, greedy, angry, hateful, adulterous, covetous man like Donald Trump.

This is a stupid post.

You cannot answer my original question honestly. A 'yes' would have you approving of sin. A 'no' would concede that there are legitimate reservations/concerns about Trump, and that you may not be right.
