I think that the Esv uses current English.
Only sporadically. If you would devote the time to read several of its books for yourself you would discover that what I'm saying is accurate.

Of course I have made a number of threads concerning the issue of its poor and dated English. I have compared it with the NLT, Modern Language Bible, NASB and other versions including the NIV.

See for yourself.

I have read thru it, and it seems to read pretty much as a modern updated KJV to me!

Seems as if this thread has gotten entirely away from the discussion of door-to-door visits by JWs & other cult members.

So, lemme summarize my view on those visits by saying I view them as witnessing opportunities the HOLY SPIRIT mighta provided to try to lead them to Jesus. (and try me as well.)
I have had visits. I point them to John 8 where Jesus says "Before Abraham was, I Am." Then I point them to Exodus 3 where God tells Moses, "Tell the that I Am has sent you."

I then ask them if the I Am is one and the same. They try to avoid the issue and walk away. They have not been coached to argue this point, but are not ready to admit the Watchtower Society is wrong.

If God is going to save them, He will. Like Muslims, Mormons and other religions, God often breaks their arguments down over time.

We all have our weaknesses where our skin is thin. As a site administrator this can be a problem where perhaps it would be good to remove oneself from conversations rather than removing others.
It's not thin skin....it is a low tolerance threshold. I don't suffer certain people well but I'm not a Pastor. Add to that advanced age and chronic MS and .... well there it is. As a Christian, I can only sympathize and pray for the mans health and the other mans understanding.
