Very sad commentary on the church today

The most quoted scripture by non believers hands down.

Here's a couple from people of The Way:

Who are you to judge another's servant?

There is One Lawgiver who is able to save and destroy.

The last thing the Church and the world needs are a bunch of judgemental Christians who don't even have the plank removed from their own eyes.

Yes. And, according to Pink, fewer verses have suffered more at the hands of expositors than this one.

They think it means that if I don't judge anyone, that God won't judge me. What a destructive doctrine.

Some may feel that way, but you are right it is wrong. The meaning is that the way your judge is the way you will be judged.

You have never had a more accurate posting!

You don't seem to know anything about love or compassion.

BTW, I agree with MP concerning hell.

You don't seem to know, or care to know, anything about scripture.

Compassion is not telling lies about the Bible's teachings on hell. You can show people "love & compassion" and send them to the place you don't believe exists. You won't be able to hide behind M.P. at the Great White Throne. Good luck.

It means conservatives cannot look at an unChrist-like action and call it that, but liberals can, without foreknowledge, tell us we don't give enough to charity.

Hmm, Kentucky and he is a deacon in a Baptist church?

Is it a Primitive Baptist church? There are many in the Appalachians.

There is a PBC group called the "no-hellers (which is a misnomer)" who, though they don't deny the reality of hell, do not believe it is forever:

No. He is a member of a SBC church. He knew there was a hell but didn't believe it was for ever. As a child they went to a small Baptist church that might have had 20 on a Sunday morning, and I don't know what kind of Baptist they were.

Who might that be Wade? Wait, let me guess, anyone who disagrees with your viewpoint, right?

No, not my viewpoint, but God's. Anyone who doesn't believe in a literal hell may very well find out how literal it is.

If there isn't a literal hell, just what is it that Jesus is saving us from? If you don't believe in the thing that Jesus is saving us from, you are condemned and will spend eternity in the place you don't believe in.

The only thing in many people's Bible that is not an allegory are the verses about no judging.

I don't particularly think that if a person doesn't believe in an eternal hell, they are lost, but they are sadly mistaken. They take science's word for everything. They make their own sense of right and wrong to determine what the Bible says and means. They make their own intellect the guiding interpreter of God, rather than allowing God and His Word to be the interpreter of their intellect.

The word of God tells us of a literal Hell. It's people's convictions that tell people not to worry, a "loving" God wouldn't create a place for eternal torment.
