Matthew 27:50, Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.

Mark 15:37, And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost.

Luke 23:46, And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.

John 19:30, . . . he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

Jesus received our payment for our sins before He physically died, per John 19:28, . . . Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, . . . .

What I gathered from my studies years ago, Christ died on the preparation day of Passover. The same day the Lord commanded the Hebrews in Egypt to cover their door posts with the Blood from the sacrifice that represented Christ.

They were commanded to kill the sacrifice around 3pm on preparation day, the same time Christ would die on the Cross.

Well that view is caused by a failure to understand the Jewish days begin in their evenings.

The Geneva Bible has for Mark 15:42, And nowe when the night was come (because it was the day of the preparation that is before the Sabbath)

Evening being after Sun down.

What relative to sin is being finished.

for what the law was not able to do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God, His own Son having sent in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, did condemn the sin in the flesh, Romans 8:3

How did God go about doing this?

Isa 53:6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
Matt 27:46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

What did the sin, when it is finished, bring forth?

James 1:15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and [the yet] sin, when it is finished [ From ἀπό (G575) and τελέω (G5055)],bringeth forth death.

John 19:28-30 YLT After this, Jesus knowing that all things now have been finished, [g5055] that the Writing may be fulfilled, saith, 'I thirst;' a vessel, therefore, was placed full of vinegar, and they having filled a sponge with vinegar, and having put it around a hyssop stalk, did put it to his mouth; when, therefore, Jesus received the vinegar, he said, 'It hath been finished; [g5055]' and having bowed the head, gave up the spirit.

Gave up the spirit, DIED for our sins.

That is when Jesus died for our sins IMHO.

Those other scriptures in post 121 state the same. When our sins were laid on him he became dead in trespass and sin and he died a few moments/minutes later by obedience of faith. Dying thou dost die. Just what God told Adam. IMHO

What???

On the first Passover in Egypt the Hebrews killed the sacrifice around 3pm on the 14th/preparation day and prepared it for that evening just a few hours later at sunset which began Passover Day, the High Day was beginning. The meal was actually eaten on Passover Day.

The John Darby translation, Exodus 12:6, And ye shall keep it until the fourteenth day of this month; and the whole congregation of the assembly of Israel shall kill it between the two evenings.

Between the 2 evenings is 3pm. Some clain between 3pm - 5pm. I don't argue it could be.

A modern Jewish translation, Exodus 12:6, 6And you shall keep it for inspection until the fourteenth day of this month, and the entire congregation of the community of Israel shall slaughter it in the afternoon.

Yes, the sacrifice is killed at 3pm on the 14th/preparation day.

A spotless perfect sacrifice was picked out and kept in the home, if I remember correctly, and was offered at 3pm preparation day.

Mark 14:12, And the first day of unleavened bread, when they killed the passover, . . . .

That was the day before the crucifixion.

The first day of Unleavened Bread is Passover Day, the 15th, beginning at sunset on the 14th.

Christ was crucified on the 14th, preparation day.

"At" not "On" is what Mark is referring to.

The first of 7 days of the Passover begins at sunset on the 14th that begins the Passover.

The 14th begins on.its Sun set.

Exodus 12:18, In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at even, ye shall eat unleavened bread, until the one and twentieth day of the month at even.

Being the 14th through the 20th.

The 15th through the 21st only has six days per Deuteronomy 16:8.

Do you remember the list of the 7 High Sabbath's, the High days?

The first is the first day of Unleavened Bread.

The second is the last day of Unleavened Bread.

As of today - Resurrection Sunday is in 47 days.

So what day did Christ die?
I do not think we can know.

The Biblical account is the observations of the Disciples.

Are they observing the Galiean Jewish accounting or the accounting of the Sadduces (Temple) when going to Jerusalem?

Is it a scientific account or historical account?

If we count backwards from the Resurrection.... Are we using the Galiean accounting of a day or the Sadducces' accounting?

Is "three days and three nights" like the fast in the Old Testament that lasted "three days and three nights" (and afternoon, the next day, and the next morning...approximately 36 hours) or is it 72 hours?

We can only speculate as Scripture does not offer the precise recording of a timeline that suits Western media.

The resurrection is on the third day.
Luke 24:21, But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel: and beside all this, to day is the third day since these things were done.

It's ok for you to believe that, just as it's ok for someone believe Wed. or Fri.

It's ok to believe His birthday is Dec. 25th.
