What happened to expository preaching

I don’t get the chance to visit other Baptist Churches, as much as others might: But I hardly ever hear expository preaching, from other Churches than my own.

The reason, that I bring this up, is because this kind of preaching, is one of the earmarks of a fundamental Baptist Church.

Now, for the reason, we don’t find this kind of preaching, in most Churches.

I think that it has to do with the preachers attitude about God’s Word.

A preacher, who doesn’t really believe that his Bible, has been preserved by God, and is 100% perfect, will not preach expositorily, because why make a bid deal out of every single word in a passage, if he isn’t sure which words are actually God’s Word.

And this brings us back to the KJV, which is another earmark, of a fundamental Baptist Church.

Which KJV might that be stilllearning as the AV1611 and the AV1769 are not in 100% agreement?

In addition "expository preaching" is not a guarantee of doctrinal correctness.

How about this, any English translation (even a NWT) can be corrected by the Greek and/or Hebrew and not the other way around as certain KJVO leaders claim.

The reason there is not more "expository preaching" as you claim might be 1) this very attitude of the KJVO leadership and 2) the churches you have visited are not a good cross-section.

IMO Pastors/preachers who know the original languages (either formally or self taught) are more likely to "preach expositorily" rather than those who follow after the attitude of "onlyism" (IMO).

Today in this age of computers and the internet tools, it is not even necessary to learn the original languages to preach/teach in an expository way.

It does take wisdom however to filter through the nonsense on the web.

And wisdom is ours as a promise just for the asking (unlike Solomon who had to be prompted to ask).

James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.​

So, IMO, lack of diligent study and taking God at His Word about asking for wisdom is the most likely reason for poor preaching not the translation one uses and the naive attitude concerning God's purpose of translations.​

1 Jn 2:20,27 talks about an anointing in the sense of being the Lord's "anointed ones". Undoubtedly this nowhere refers to the act of preaching or unction / anointing thereon.
