The wall is a waste of money. It's a 19th century solution to a 21st century problem. Trump is always coming up with those like emphasizing the use of coal when there are cheaper and better energy solutions.
Good for them.
So you want to make it dangerous for people living close to the border in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California? Why don't we bury the radioactive waste in your town? No. I don't really think it will make a difference but it certainly won't make it more secure.
Here is my idea for the border:
All across the US we have radioactive waste. And it is costing us a lot of money. Let's move out our towns a bit from the border and use the property (on our side) in a 3 mile wide strip to dump this nuclear material. Then we can let anyone cross if they want. They can dig under. They can sprint three miles.....whatever. If they make it through let them stay.
Old technology. Even saudi Arabia is making heavy investments in solar energy.Nations keep building them. Nations (especially China) still love coal.
Natural gas is a good intermediate solution for the U.S. actually fracking is used with shale oil. natural gas is a by-product. Solar is cheaper now than coal as is wind energy without the negative effects on the environment. The 5 biggest coal companies in the U.S. including the largest Peabody Coal have declared bankruptcy because there's not much of a market for coal anymore. Once again, Trump doesn't understand the science behind today's energy trade-offs.Okay, so what are the "cheaper and better" energy solutions? Solar? Nope, it just cannot provide the amount of power needed. Wind generation? Not that one either, just another "pie in the shy" alternative. The fact is, coal IS the cheaper option which is why it has been used for so long, plus it has been said that we have 300 more years of the stuff just laying around ready for mining.
We also have natural gas, but many people are against that also because of the process called "fracking" that is used to get it out of the ground.
There is radioactive waste buried in my town (my county, anyway). The government dumped material here for their MOX fuel project and then de-funded the program....leaving the waste. So you want to make it dangerous for people living close to the border in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California? No. All Communists and dictators need wals. Trump is a wanna-be dictator but we're not going to let that happen in America. The resistance is strong and getting stronger. Trump will fall HARD and then do HARD time. Now, now, all socialists need walls. Stalin built the iron curtain and the Berlin Wall. The Chinese Wall goes back some years ago. The Vatican built a huge wall to keep the jihadis from offing the Popes. Israel has a very successful wall. There were walls around Jericho. The famous socialist Ob@b@ built a big brick wall around his Washington DC mansion.
All rich rulers in socialist countries have huge walls around their dachas and mansions.
Problem with solar energy is the expense (both in money and natural resources) for what is obtained. It is one of the most expensive forms of energy. Natural Gas is currently the least expensive and most efficient. I like wind, but that's also not very efficient.Old technology. Even saudi Arabia is making heavy investments in solar energy.
I agree with the idea that people living in low-lying areas on the coast need to recognize the danger and pay for insurance to protect them from it. But the U.S. doesn't need to create hazards for its own citizens. There is radioactive waste buried in my town (my county, anyway). The government dumped material here for their MOX fuel project and then de-funded the program....leaving the waste.
But yes, I want to make it dangerous for border people. People who live in New Orleans should know there is a danger living below sea level. People in Hawaii should know there is a danger living at a volcano. People who live on a fault line should know it is dangerous. And people who live on the boarder need to know it is dangerous to live there.
I only see one problem. While the folks may start glowing (which would be a good thing as we could recognize them from the legal immigrants), they could also develop super human powers and take over the country.
Natural Gas, Geothermal, Wind, and Hydroelectric are all cheaper today than coal and solar has become just about equal now.Problem with solar energy is the expense (both in money and natural resources) for what is obtained. That's the problem with nuclear power. We don't have a good way of dealing with the nuclear waste. Environmental problems like the water in Flint, MI are caused by deregulation which Trump and the Republicans are pushing. These allow corporations to dump dangerous wastes into streams, etc. If you push for allowing corporations to do this to make more money that is what you get. That happened in NC with deregulation of safely dealing with the wastes from hog farms. With all the rain from the hurricane that hog excrement was spread all over the state. Want clean air, clean water and no environmental dumps? Vote for increasing environmental restrictions not removing them. The government IS a hazard for its on citizens.
And it has created hazards (just like I just described in my area). I can think of four very large sites off hand (the entire site in my county is over 300 sq miles). There have been radioactive deer, alligators, and fish (pretty cool....huh...).
That isn't a problem if we put the waste in a wall at the border. We could call it the "waste wall".That's the problem with nuclear power. We don't have a good way of dealing with the nuclear waste.
I doubt it but think they go on the outside of an existing roof so they don't make it last for a shorter period of time.On a side note....we have a lot of solar panels around here (on the roofs of houses). Does the panels make the roof last longer?
You don't live in S. Texas. That isn't a problem if we put the waste in a wall at the border. We could call it the "waste wall".
No. I avoid those dangerous areas. First you have people trying to get into the country illegally. That's just illegal. And then you have all those Texans. And they carry guns. If all of the material we have stored for the MOX project can be stored safely I'm confident we can create a very small leak towards the south side of the wall that won't extend past the Rio Grande. You don't live in S. Texas.
They do go over the existing roof, but I was thinking maybe they would help protect the actual roof from weather (making it last longer). I have not checked into the cost, but have considered having them installed.I doubt it but think they go on the outside of an existing roof so they don't make it last for a shorter period of time.
