What is so darn CHRISTIAN about the Republican Party?

Since the vocal majority found the temptation irresistible to demonize the Democratic Party and everything "Left", I have a question as a registered Republican of 40 years that has heard lots of promises, but has more excuses than results to show for all those Republicans that I elected.

Like the title says...

In what way, shape or form is a vote for the Republican Party the "Christian" thing to do?

(Where is the verse on lower capital gains taxes? ... the only promise they ever fight for.)

OK, let's talk honestly about the points y'all raised:

Abortion is LEGAL and so far ... NOTHING has changed that.
How is the difference anything more than "smoke and mirror" political rhetoric.
Every four years we hear "Vote for this crappy person or the Democrats will kill lots of babies." Guess what, the babies are dying anyway and we keep electing non-Christians with a completely different agenda. Even if every Republican pledged to "not eat until they had ended abortion", the only cure is a constitutional amendment that has no chance of ever passing let alone being ratified by the states. For women, the Democrats get to drag out their candidate and say "Vote for this crappy person or the Republicans will take control of your wombs". If Christians would just stop voting for an empty promise, then women would not have to fear Conservative or Christian means that they cannot get an abortion if they are raped.

Deeds not pretty words.

Pro Freedom or Religion
So Islam needs equal access to our communities and the Scientologists have a RIGHT to buy up cities to convert "businesses" into "religious buildings" to avoid taxes? How does this spread the Gospel or fulfill the commands of Scripture?

Where in the Democratic Platform have they come out against the First Amendment to the Constitution?

Pro Free Speech
Respectfully, "taint so". Both sides want the right to shout down the other side and neither side wants to really listen to opinions that they disagree with. This month in 2020, more people are REGISTERED Democrats than Republicans and no matter how you slice it ... HALF the country disagreed with Conservative Republicans. Yet the common belief here on BB is that NONE of them are Christians ... even the ones that post here and claim to be.

That is not wanting "free speech", that is wanting the freedom to say your piece.
That aside, this is another Constitutional Amendment guaranteed right that the Democratic Platform probably does not advocate removing.

Pro Liberty
Very high sounding, but just what is it that you want to do but are being prevented from doing?
What is it that the Democratic Platform advocates that will prevent you from doing something in the future (and what would that be)?

Against Communism
Just how "against communism" are we talking about? Should we reverse the anti-trust actions and allow one company to control all of the networks or an entire industry. That is 19th Century Capitalism? Should we disband unions and Farming Cooperatives as being a step too far to the left?

Pro Truth
Ummm ... yeah. Are we talking about the same group of Politicians?

against alternate lifestyles legalized
pro indivual rights
OK, so which is it? Do you want Government to support the right of people to do and live however they please, or not.

pro business
Define "pro-business". Global markets that allow Chinese workers to manufacture goods so the CEOs can post record profits by shipping jobs overseas is "pro-business". So are pollution laws so lax that lake Erie can actually catch on fire. Building an interstate high speed rail network between urban centers would also boost business and trade by lowering transportation costs (but that is a Liberal concept like Government Investment in Infrastructure). So please define what YOU mean by pro business.

Democratic agenda will be to make sure that we all go solar panels and wind turbines, and to make sure free speech only extends towards those who approve of their ways!

They even wanted to take God out of their platform!

Again, Democrats are trying to expand abortion. Enough said. And no, women should NOT be able to get an abortion even if they are raped. Why does being raped all of a sudden make it ok to murder a child?

It is not the role of government to spread the Gospel. But the Democrats increasingly crack down on Christianity each year.

Respectfully, "taint so". Both sides want the right to shout down the other side and neither side wants to really listen to opinions that they disagree with. I never said you couldn't say anything you want. But part of free speech means free rebuttal as well. Buck up Sally.

Well in Democrat States they don't really want you going to church now do they? They don't want you to spend time with family. They don't want you to worship freely. I'd say those are pretty big deals.

Your choosing to take the most negative spin on everything is not helpful. Quite frankly I find your question disingenuous.

There is nothing "Christian" about partisan politics. We are saved based on the finished work of Christ Jesus on our behalf alone. As Alistair Begg put it - "Jesus, says the Bible, has lived for us the kind of life we should live but can't. And He has paid fully the penalty we deserve for the life we do live but shouldn't." And that would include not voting "correctly", if such can even be ascertained among the myriads of reasons to vote for a particular candidate or issue, or to even not vote. The Great Commission is to spread the gospel, not a political philosophy nor to win elections. There is nothing about politics that should be anywhere near the importance of spreading the gospel of Christ.

17 Now the Lord is the Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 2 Cor 3

The context of what that "liberty" is referring to:

2 Corinthians 3:12-18 [12] Since we have such a hope, we are very bold, [13] not like Moses, who would put a veil over his face so that the Israelites might not gaze at the outcome of what was being brought to an end. [14] But their minds were hardened. For to this day, when they read the old covenant, that same veil remains unlifted, because only through Christ is it taken away. [15] Yes, to this day whenever Moses is read a veil lies over their hearts. [16] But when one turns to the Lord, the veil is removed. [17] Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. [18] And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit. K. So? You think our liberties derived from the Bill Of Rights could have originated apart from Jesus Christ?

Yes. A lot of atheistic libertarians are hardcore pro-Bill of Rights across the board. And they are certainly not doing so from any kind of "Christian" perspective.

Give me examples of countries where the gospel of Jesus Christ is not freely preached that enjoy anywhere near the liberties Americans have been blessed with.

I see no connection.

I think that line of argumentation is just backfilling to try to turn worldly politics into some kind of "Christian" crusade.

Democrats Pass Resolution Opposing Christianity and Exalting Atheism

Democrats have passed a resolution in which they have framed religious liberty as a risk to civil rights. The Democratic National Committee unanimously passed this resolution in a meeting in San Francisco on Aug. 24.

The Secular Coalition of America spearheaded this act which represents atheists, agnostics, and humanists and assists these groups in regards to policies. The values embraced by religiously unaffiliated Americans were praised within the Democratic Party. The most prominent religious group within the left is religiously unaffiliated American citizens.
...

Most Democrats’ world views are directly opposed to that of a biblical perspective. Christianity often gets associated with the Republican Party, which is often criticized by the left. However, the Democrats have made it exuberantly clear that Christian morals and values have no place within their party.

The Democratic Party continues to ostracize Christians and then mock their support of President Trump. If Christians show support of traditional marriage, they are labeled homophobic bigots. The resolution stated that 80 percent of religiously unaffiliated Democrats support same-sex marriage. When abortion is opposed, the term “hating women” comes into play.

What is “unChristian” about solar panels or wind turbines?

Solar panels have the advantage of generating power in a curve that approximates the peak demand curve for electric usage.

Where does the Democratic platform advocate that EVERYONE should be required to have solar and wind generation ... even places that it is uneconomical? Where is INDIVIDUAL power generation suggested as desirable, let alone mandatory? What do you care how the utility generates the electricity that you use?

I enjoy under 2 dollar gas, and that we have eough electricity and natural gas, the Dems plans would mean 5 dollar Gas, and energy shortages!

Where in the Democratic Party platform does it say that?
How do they propose to get around that pesky Constitution?
(The same one that prevents Republicans from simply outlawing abortion since Roe v. Wade)

You still have not explained what makes that contrary to the teachings of Jesus Christ.

I could not locate the word “gas” in any scripture, but was able to locate the word “energy” nine times in the NET translation:

  • [Jos 14:11 NET] 11 Today I am still as strong as when Moses sent me out. I can fight and go about my daily activities with the same energy I had then.

  • [Jdg 19:5, 8 NET] 5 On the fourth day they woke up early and the Levite got ready to leave. But the girl's father said to his son-in-law, "Have a bite to eat for some energy, then you can go." ... 8 He woke up early in the morning on the fifth day so he could leave, but the girl's father said, "Get some energy. Wait until later in the day to leave!" So they ate a meal together.

  • [1Sa 28:20 NET] 20 Saul quickly fell full length on the ground and was very afraid because of Samuel's words. He was completely drained of energy, not having eaten anything all that day and night.

  • [Isa 40:29 NET] 29 He gives strength to those who are tired; to the ones who lack power, he gives renewed energy.

  • [Isa 44:12 NET] 12 A blacksmith works with his tool and forges metal over the coals. He forms it with hammers; he makes it with his strong arm. He gets hungry and loses his energy; he drinks no water and gets tired.

  • [Isa 49:4 NET] 4 But I thought, "I have worked in vain; I have expended my energy for absolutely nothing." But the LORD will vindicate me; my God will reward me.

  • [Isa 57:10 NET] 10 Because of the long distance you must travel, you get tired, but you do not say, 'I give up.' You get renewed energy, so you don't collapse.

  • [Dan 10:8 NET] 8 I alone was left to see this great vision. My strength drained from me, and my vigor disappeared; I was without energy.

None of these appear to advocate fossil fuels over renewable resources, so this is NOT a Christian issue unless you can explain how it relates to the commands of Jesus Christ.
