We use signs, tracts and the Holy Bible. Our signs/pics are a call to repentance and can be backed up with the Bible; many are exact quotes from the Bible. We carry tracts to pass out to casual inquirers and keep a Bible on hand to give away to those who don't have one. I've also found the complete Bible is better to witness with than just the N.T.
Something Joseph said caught my eye: "most people who get their ears tickled do leave with a smile on their face." We have a group of "counter-protesters"(as they call themselves) across the road from us in one area. Their signs say "God loves you" or "Got Jesus" or similar. They think our signs are "too hard". Someone from their side told us that they wanted the folks to know that God loves them just the way they are, even tho' they're a hellbound sodomite or baby-murderer, fornicator or adulterer, etc. Yes, "too bad that they are still leaving without the Word of God and without any conviction of sin."
Terry, you can still get "What Must I Do To Be Saved" from Sword of the Lord I beleive.Originally posted by Terry_Herrington:
We used to use a tract entitled, "What Must I Do To Be Saved," which we purchased from "Sword of the Lord." I haven't seen this tract in years, but I sure did like it. It was pretty long but explained the Gospel in detail.
I like also like the Chick tract, "This Was Your Life."
That is exactly what I think tracts are good for. Evidently, Joseph thought I was recommending using a tract instead of a Bible when doing personal witnessing, which is not what I am saying at all. Use the Word of God whenever it is possible, every time!Originally posted by blackbird:
Very rarely will I use a tract---except maybe to leave one in some restaurant washroom or on the table where I'm seated---per chance someone will come along and pick it up for a "unseen" encounter...

You seem to be implying that using a Bible while doing personal witnessing was too expensive, to which I replied:however, passing out free Bibles can get rather expensive. That is why we choose to use tracts.
I don't believe I misunderstood you at all.Terry,
That is one reason I support the Gideon's Bible Ministry. But, ask yourself this: How much is a soul worth to you? You do not even have to give them a Bible. Perhaps you might consider opening your Bible and sharing the true Gospel with them. BTW, how many Bibles do most Christians have at their house? We probably have about a dozen or more.
