In closing, mark me and mark me well. If we act like al Qaeda then we are no better than the beasts at our door.

I agree with you Ken.

Now do you want that marked with like a sharpie or something more permenant like a tattoo? I know we can put it on your forehead.

Must be getting close to bed time.

Thank goodness, this thread was just torture.

   Good one.

I think I'll get a drink of water. I'm bored.

PS: Ken, al Qaeda does waterboarding? I have never heard of them doing that, just sawing off heads and body parts or dousing with gasoline and lighting afire. No one here is suggesting that we do those things like al Qaeda.

I really learned a lot today. It had been a while since I read Nehemiah, and I highly encourage everyone to study this book.

That being said, I still would like to know why Pelosi OKed it. Maybe Clinton was president when she did ?

Anyhoo, great topic.

She was OK with it in 2002, so 9/11 was still fresh in her mind is my guess.

Anyway, I'll put in my final word on this thread :). The carnal part of me has absolutely no problem with waterboarding or using any other technique to extract information from terrorists, or even domestic criminals. It's when I try and put that carnal nature away that I have a problem with it. I hope that many of you have been talking from your carnal nature on this thread and don't honestly believe that in God's eyes waterboarding is a proper practice.

My hope is that people let the Holy Spirit lead them, and not human emotions on either side of the argument.

Jesus said to do unto othere as you would have them do unto you. This is his way. It contains no promise that we will get from others any comparable behavior. How could it? The world says do unto others before they do you. That sounds a bit preemptive in judgement, and is driven by fear, or suspicions and anticipation of evil....... whether warrented or not. We have choices; we can do it God's way and have faith that he is the rewarder of those who seek and follow in his will, or do it the worlds' way and discover as we have judged so we are judged.

I do believe, and hope, the reports of torture have been exaggerated. I can't believe that a country which takes the high moral ground will ever be without friends....or God's favor. But a country which has built its reputation around such presentation, once it becomes known to be as corrupt in its operations as most others....it is no longer counted by degrees....the failure is great. To those to whom much is given, much shall be required. Loosing the high moral ground means the piper will be paid. We've had moral ground and our position of leadership in the world because of it. We are already loosing it, and the world stands ready, eager, and jealous to judge us.

King David was a torturer. And without rebuke, or repentance that I can find.

2 Samuel 12:31
And he brought forth the people that were therein, and put them under saws, and under harrows of iron, and under axes of iron, and made them pass through the brick-kiln: and thus did he all the cities of the children of Ammon.

1 Chronicles 20:3
And he brought out the people that were in it, and cut them with saws, and with harrows of iron, and with axes. Even so dealt David with all the cities of the children of Ammon.

I guess the only folks we should torture are the unborn that get chopped up & burned with chemicals....

If you believe that torture is Scriptural and alright with God, then you must agree that we were wrong to depose Saddam Hussein. He even had torture rooms.
