Only those whom God makes alive in Christ, by His grace, and gives the gift of faith, will believe.
YES! ... But, most believers today think they have ...
the free will (and are able) to choose Jesus and His gospel.

However, pastors whom I admire believe that ...
those given the faith to believe still have the free will to reject the call.

The verse in Hebrews 12:2,
where it says Jesus is the "author and finisher of our faith"
cannot be interpreted as "faith is a gift".
Again, it all depends on who the "our" is referring to!
You think it refers to every Tom, Dick, and Harry who has some faith!

The verse in Hebrews 12:2 ... says
Jesus is the "author and finisher of our faith".
I'm asking again, and anyone may answer ...
Is everyone who believes an "our"?

Are the goats, the tares, the foolish virgins, the false confessors, etc.?
Don't forget, the tares are indistinguishable from the wheat.

And InTheLight still hasn't told us if he's a Tom, a Dick, or a Harry
... cause he doesn't know!

Except for in the list of gifts of the Spirit, there are no Bible passages that directly state faith to be a gift from God.

But this comes to mind, ". . . according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. . . . " -- Romans 12:3.
Is that universal mankind or universal elect children of God?

Can a person, dead in their trespasses and sins have a faith that God only gifts to those whom he has made alive with Christ?

Grace is the gift in the verse, but everything comes from God, even faith, or the ability to believe. FAITH is not salvation
It is how we receive salvation offered to us in Grace

Is God a Carnival Barker, hoping to convince a customer or is God the King who determines who his citizens are in His Kingdom?

Ephesians 2:8 - For it is by free grace (God’s unmerited favor) that you are saved (delivered from judgment and made partakers of Christ’s salvation) through [your] faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [of your own doing, it came not through your own striving], but it is the gift of God. (AMPC)

It both other wise Christ would never have died for the whole world. Election is always cooperate never individual. God never changes. The election of the Jews was cooperate so is election of the Gentiles

First of all No where in scripture does it ever say men are saved before they have faith. Because we are saved by grace through faith. Being regenerated is salvation. Man must first be convicted by The Holy Spirit of his sins and repent of those sins . He must hear the gospel and believe then if the Lord see's the man is serious God will save him. It's been called a relationship because both man and God are involved.

Who was rich in mercy? Who made dead men alive with Christ? Who saved by grace? Who raised us up and seated us with God in heaven, in Christ? Who graciousky gave us faith as a gift so that we cannot boast about generating our own faith?

Ephesians 2:4-9 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

It's not both. If Christ has atoned for the entire world, then all have their sins paid for and God cannot send them to hell without being an unjust God. How could God send someone who is righteous to hell? He can't.
So, you must be wrong.

Think this is the much better way to put it.

No, It is only to benefit us to acknowledge Him as God.
He had asked that all repent
All to whom God makes alive with Christ will repent. People who are dead in their trespasses and sins won't repent. In fact, they won't even seek God. God must choose to pursue them and save them.

Grace is the unmerited favor that God chooses to grant to a spiritually dead man. Faith is the gift He gives to the man He has made alive with Christ so that the man can believe what God has graciously chosen to do.

Then how is it that all men have been dealt a measure of faith?

Rom_12:3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
When we hear the gospel our faith is always strengthened.

All men there refers to those who are now saved!

We have choices
Amo 5:14

Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live: and so the LORD, the God of hosts, shall be with you, as ye have spoken.

He came to all.

Luk 19:10

For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

What verses do you use?
Thank you.

1 Corinthians 12

4Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5And there are varieties of ministries, and the same Lord. 6There are varieties of effects, but the same God who works all things in all persons. 7But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. 8For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; 9to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, 10and to another the effecting of miracles, and to another prophecy, and to another the distinguishing of spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, and to another the interpretation of tongues. 11But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills.

1 Corinthians 13
2If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing

Luke 17
5The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith!” 6And the Lord said, “If you had faith like a mustard seed, you would say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and be planted in the sea’; and it would obey you.

James 1

16Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. 17Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.

Faith is a gift. So is breathing, sneezing, the hic ups.
