It appears obvious to me that God is sovereign. He will do what He will do in any manner, time, and however He wants. While we pay lip service to the concept that "God's ways are not our ways...God is so far above us ...He is so 'Other' than us...We are like dumb sheep, like ants....His Incarnation is like us becoming ants in order to try to communicate with the ants what we know (science, math, relationships, emotions, philosophies, theology... our 'love' toward ants, why we became ants...) we then go on to explain how we have Him all figured out. His ways are not are ways, but I will now explain His ways. He is so far above us...Now listen to me as I bring Him down from His 'above' state...I think you get my point.
I am Not saying that we can know Nothing of our God and Savior. I just believe that we (me, you, all of us) think we know more than we really do. It would do us, and those around us well to re-approach Him and His Word as ' little children, for such is the kingdom of heaven.' Not immaturely still needing milk, but as those mature ones who, nevertheless still realize that we don't know more than we do know. Those who are growing but still know that we are His children.
I am 55 years old. I became a Christian when I was 10. I can say that I have been a serious student of the Scriptures for those 45 years. I can also say that today I have more questions than answers. [The reason for my signature] I really want to learn from as many as I can here at BB. I hope that most of us can reason together in an honorable, respectful manner. This did not answer your question much, but in time we might know more about one another than we care to know.

Yes, if we are elect !

We the elect being recipients of the Holy Spirit are translated from being under the law, that is subject to the wages of sin to being under grace, that is subject to receiving the gift of God that is currently in Christ Jesus.

We are currently heirs not inheritors. Jesus has inherited that grace from God and we being joint heirs with him will in due time inherit it also.

Out current situation: Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; That being justified by his grace, (which is in Christ) we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

before the times of the ages, in Christ Jesus grace was given.

How was that grace to come, how was it given, before the times of the ages.

By promise.

upon hope of life age-during, eternal life which God, who doth not lie, did promise before times of ages,

That promise was made for Jesus who would be born thousands of years later.

Remember, Abraham died not having received the promises and still hasn't.

Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ. For if the inheritance (heirs and joint heirs) of the law, [it is] no more of promise: but God gave [it] to Abraham by promise. Wherefore then [serveth] the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made;

ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

Jesus received the inheritance by resurrection from the dead, received the promise of the Holy Spirit from the Father see Acts 2:33 which was then abundantly shed on us through Christ making us heirs of the hope of eternal life to be inherited at the resurrection. See 1 Cor 15 and See Titus 3:6,7

We also recieve Gods grace when we enjoy the beauty of the earth, nature, etc, that He has given us.

But the most important reception of Gods grace is the moment we are born again of the Spirit of God, and made secure for heaven through faith in Christ.

The Faith is what we have inherited. It is that body of truth passed down from the apostles, the Scriptures.

Peter was writing to the brethren, not false teachers. He was writing to those of like precious faith. That is, those who believed the same as we do, those who have the same doctrine that we have--not the Joseph Smith doctrine, not the Charles Taze Russel Doctrine, but the doctrine of like precious faith--the doctrine of Peter and Paul, that Jesus had taught them, the apostles. It is the faith.

Also the New Birth by the Spirit is part of that Inheritance ! Paul writes Eph 1:13-14

13In Christ ye also trusted after ye heard the word of truth, the Gospel of your salvation, in Whom also after ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

which is the pledge of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of His glory.


All for whom Christ died and rose again, they will by His resurrection be born again 1 Pet 1:3

SM you are correct we obtained like precious faith within the gift of the Holy Spirit and it is, Christ in us, the hope of glory.

We received the Holy Spirit of promise because of the shed blood of Jesus who knew no sin but was made sin for us (the faith of Christ) by he Jesus receiving the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit. (Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.) When God the Father regenerated him it washed away the sin he had become thus, we might be made the righteousness of God in him. That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

This is also that Lively Hope the Elect were begotten to by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the Dead 1 Pet 1:3, and it is because they were sons, God sent forth the Spirit of His Son in their Hearts Gal 4:6.

This Birth from above makes manifest the Children of God, born not [Jn 1:13]

13Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

This is the end result of Grace given those in Christ Jesus before the world began, it communicates to them Eternal Life,, the Grace of Life !

I would say we are pretty close to being on the same page. I don't think I made any illusion to common grace. For I believe it to be the gift of God.

If you would, reconcile that in your quote I underlined with the following verse and then I will comment on John 1:13

Rom 8:19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.

Is John 1:13 or Luke 20:36 more equivalent to that verse?
