Exactly, this thread link is just a religious left rant based upon bad theology. This Professor Mathewes is most interested in gays getting cakes baked by people who don't want to do it for religious reasons but the Professor doesn't mention going to Dearborn, Michigan, for his cake. The Professor probably works for Jeff Bezos, owner of Amazon and owner of the Washington Post. Bezos has made it clear that he hates Trump. Now we can guess that Bezos hates white Christians, also.
I don’t understand, what’s the link between Christians and Trump?

What's your point? I'm talking about history, what actually happened. Do you believe that no change in 45 years demonstrates a strong indication that Republicans ever want to change Roe vs. Wade?
I am saying here that yo claim republicans on the Court for wade decision, and my point is if there were real ones like Justice Thomas, would have had a 9-0 vote against it!

For the good and flourishing of the Church, Trump was the only choice. Hillary would have done far worse than Obama to kill religious liberty, especially Christian liberty.
What is Christian religious freedom versus Jewish religious freedom or Muslim religious freedom? We either have religious freedom for all or we don't.

Hi, Matt! This religious leftist professor in cahoots with the richest man in the world leftie Jeff Bezos who owns Amazon and the leftist rag WaPo is mostly upset because some Christians don't want to cater sodomite ceremonies. The professor should say that Dearborn, Michigan, should cater sodomite events. As for the fact that pollsters think that 80% of Evangelicals (and here the professor wants to signify white Evangelicals and deal in the ID politics of the left) voted for Trump, mostly as the lesser of two evils is a reflection of Christian hypocrisy. Actually, it would have been more hypocritical to have voted for the corrupt Hillary, who made no attempt to hide her hatred of Evangelicals since the 1990s when she was Bill Clinton's First Lady. Hillary on immigration is much like the Hessian Merkel, a representative of the deadbeat Germans who don't want to pay their NATO bill and who are crazy about Obama and his European aristocrat politics. Trump has been kind to Evangelicals. If Hillary had been elected, my home state of Indiana, which lost their industrial base in the late 1970s and is deep in the rust belt, would have suffered even more under poverty and drug addiction and low wages to the delight of the Democrats and probably you yourself, no?

Depends what sort of evangelicals you mean there. Trump has been kind to the Franklin Graham right-wing bunch for sure - so far. He has bigger fish to fry. And I think that a Congressional Tax Bill that cuts welfare for the poorest including cutting medical aid for sick children to give tax breaks to the wealthy will in time make the poor and indigent in your home State far worse off than you can imagine. One or two mentioned abortion up thread. Well, here's the thing about being pro-life: you can't claim to be pro-life and in favour of a Bill that robs kids of life saving medical treatment. So I will ignore anyone from now on who supports this Bill and who claims to be pro-life; s/he is just a vain hypocrite, and I will deservedly dismiss their whining about Hillary and abortion accordingly. This is what I mean by fake Christianity. I'm really not interested in it.

Well, Matt, I think that you have a mistaken notion of what is going on with this tax bill. Franklin Graham is hardly right-wing--I don't recall anyone ever saying that about his father Billy Graham. You can hardly in any sort of fairness call the Southern Baptists right wing--they are moderates.

The tax bill does not cut medical aid for anyone. Under US law for many decades, hospitals cannot decline to admit anyone. Supposing you are in Indianapolis, Indiana, and you are just passing through and you are penniless but you need medical attention and hospitalization. You will be admitted and treated. Medicaid, medical welfare, pays for that. In Indianapolis, you might be transferred to the county hospital if you are not taken there in the first place but in extreme emergency you will automatically be taken to the first hospital that can handle your need.

As for your charge about the wealthy, we are not socialists in this country, but the Trump tax plan is clearly skewered to favor the lower and middle classes, as many have already documented on this board. Also, we have millions who pay no taxes at all, a reversal of historic policy that required everyone to pay a portion of any income over the standard deduction.

As for your comment about what good is pro-life without welfare, I know that you are not suggesting the murder of the unborn because they might be poor, but that is the traditional talking point of the hardcore leftists in this country. I suppose that you could say the left are extreme materialists.

Hillary and the Democrats have had a plank in their platform for 50 years supporting abortion on demand. There is no way that abortion on demand can be reconciled with any teaching of Jesus. What is fake is this Professor Mathewes' call for the federal government to dictate job descriptions for each citizen so that one has to do what is morally repulsive because of federal law. As everyone agrees, Professor Mathewes is too cowardly to go into the no-go Islamic slums and other Islamic areas and demand a special cake for a sodomite event. If you want a government that tells you what kind of work that you can do, you should try China or North Korea or Cuba.

Are you going to tell me that Franklin Graham is right-wing? He is a traditional Christian and has a massive para-church organization that passes out shoeboxes full of gifts to children worldwide at Christmas and engages in disaster relief. He is the salt of the earth.

Trump is taking away medical care from the poor in IND as well forcing through a tax bill which looks good in the near term but ultimately benefits only the richest 1% and corp. Next on the Republican agenda is cutting Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security. People in IND and around the country are going to DIE because of your party's utter disregard for life of the born.

It is long over due. the libs do not want reform because they want those who get entitlements illegitimately to still get them anyway. Much like illegals. they do not care about the rule of law unless it benefits their agenda.

40 million people already died from the tax cut. They expect the total death toll to be about 15 billion.

My vote for Trump was based upon the principle of...

...saving the judiciary (thus the constitution's original intent) from creeping Marxism. With the successful appointment of Neil Gorsuch to SCOTUS and the ongoing transformation of the lower courts, I'm very pleased. The Marxists were well on the way of circumventing our constitution from the bench. All these other things like tax reform, booming economy, protecting our borders , etc., are just extra bennies to me.
