Was the Jewish religion that Jesus ministered in a true religion?
Yes. The Jews were the chosen of God.

Jesus (and Paul) didn't seem to agree with them much. Yet they went into their temples to minister to them- how ecumenical can you get?
you are the perfect example of why I research his quotes "all over the internet" in their context...and you know what...I can count on maybe 2 fingers the times I found the allegations to be true. His gospel in PDL is the same Gospel of the Bible, salvation by grace through faith. Period. The irony is the thief on the cross was save by a mere prayer, yet nobody accuses him of being a wolf in wheels clothing or a heretic. Y'all need a new pony to ride.

I've asked for examples of Rick Warren's ecumenism, his twisting of scripture, etc. and no one has really obliged me. So I guess if I were to ask again I'm insane. Really, if there is a two hour video about it and loads of websites and internet quotes out there, surely someone can give some examples.
Most every post you have made is a violation of BB rules in one manner or another, so you should welcome the company. And it is against the board rules from what I've been told for him to accuse you of bearing false witness.
Dude,
The issue in this link was the statement that we should be "Inter-religious", what is that? Does that mean we should worship together or just respect each other. This is an area where I think Warren is a little vague.

It was interesting when I was reading Bohnhoeffer's biography last night how he had "ecumenical endeavors" as well. .
...when you talk about the ecumenical movement!
A Mormon missionary, priest, and Bhudist priest were leaving an ecumenical conference in the heart of the Congo. As they made their way along the path to the city and their respective hotels, a very big, VERY hungry lion pounced on all three of them, and ate them up.
Later, that evening, after some stomach aches from eating so much and so fast, the lion headed into the bush and had an "Ecumenical movement!"
That is what I think of true believers trying to mix it up with those of other's faiths. It is like Paul [inspired by the Holy Ghost] said, "Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?' 2 Corinthians 6:14.
So often the church links this teaching to marriage, but it goes further than marriage. It speaks about the need to not be linked together with those who are NOT believers! :type:
I disagree. Using your application, unless you grow your own food and spin your own clothing you are violating your own convictions.
We have pointed people , over and over, to simply watch...the...video.
Mostly we have recieved lame excuses as to why they ...darn the luck...cant (wont) watch it.
...but, it seems to me that you are disagreeing with most of the comments on this post. So, I'll let your comments roll off my shoudlers, and not take them seriously. Peace!
Why would one need to ask Warren? His words are all over the internet. I watched the video, but wasn't really surprised at the info since I've heard and read of him for years. I watched his speech a few years ago when he said "God likes to see you being you". Ugh. Me being "me" is just a big sinner. God wants "me" to be like Christ, not like ME.
I read PDL and threw it in the trash. His misuse of scripture was appalling. He uses many translations and paraphrases to pick and choose his points and even goes so far as to chop up verses and use 2 or more versions within the same verse! Thus making it say what he wants it to say. I bought the book because of all the hoopla and good reviews of it so I had no agenda when I read it. I was expecting wonderful things, but was sadly disappointed.
His gospel in the book consists of saying a prayer: "I believe in you and receive you". Then says "if you said this prayer, you are now in the family of God". WHAT???? That is whole extent of the gospel in his PDL book. This book has been very popular among non believers so to present the gospel in this way is creating many false believers who do not understand the seriousness of their sin and their need for a Savior to forgive them and restore them to a right relationship with God and the receiving of eternal life.
Zaac...
Any and all of them...if it is a christian ministry.
As an example...
There is nothing at all wrong with a chrstian neihbor participating in a soft ball leaghe with his muslim neighbor. Likewise there is nothing wrong with a christian. bringing food to a muslim who has lost a loved one.
But we DO NOT take our muslim friends out with us when we...a group of church members...are are out taking food to poor people.
To bring muslim friends with us for something like that is (((bearing false witness)))
We are telling the world that all religions are the same.
They are not
We are of the Light. They are of the darkness
What fellowship has light with darkness
every time you take a paycheck from an unbeliever.
Here's a link to a new report on the rerelease of PDL by Rick Warren. It is by Lighthouse Trails and it should only take about 5 minutes to read of some of the false issues with Warren. Of course some in here will immediately dismiss this and choose not to read it. I ask you to not comment then please. I ask you to seriously read it prayerfully and ask God if there is anything wrong with what Warren is doing. God bless"
