Whom I am chief.

Rom 6:12Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.

Rom 6:13Neither yield ye your members [as] instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members [as] instruments of righteousness unto God.

But me personally, I can committ all manner of sin, even unto the chief sinner. (Apostle Paul, the hypocrit if true)

What a doctrine to say one of the apostles were present time the greatest sinner of all time, while teaching all the churches not to sin and neither lend their members to sin. Man, looks like some would use their heads, and realize that would make Paul the chiefest of hypocrits present time.

BBob,

What a doctrine! Paul said it himself. 'of whom I am chief'.

Paul did teach the churches to not yield their members over to sin. And he tried to practice the very same4 thing he preached.

His message was that evil that I would not, that I do. Paul gave in to the flesh, Bob. Do you not give in to the flesh yourself?

Back to Henry Aaron and Barry Bonds:

In HRs in the National and American Leagues of American Professional baseball, Bonds (currently) stands as #1 with 762 HR; Aaron is #2 in that list with 755.

Pretty clear cut, no??

Uh - not so fast! I did say "professional baseball". (You know I would not give one away that easy.) ;)

Both played in the "minor leagues" for two years. Bonds hit 20 HR there in a year and a half; Aaron hit 31 HR in the minors in 2 years.

Aaron 786; Bonds 782. Hmmm!

In addition, Aaron played one year (1952) with the Indianapolis Clowns of the Negro League, and helped them to win the 1952 Negro League World Series, as well as a few years in the Caribbean playing "winter ball". AS these were "professional leagues" as well, I suspect his career HR total is well over 800, putting him right up alongside Japan's Sadaharu Oh (Japan Leagues), and the late Josh Gibson (Negro Leagues) for 'career HR' as a professional.

OTOH, Bonds hit 44 HR in 4 years as a collegian at ASU, including helping them win a college WS. So I'd say the question is, and will always remain 'open" as to who is/was the best HR hitter ever, up 'til now.? And does the late, great Babe Ruth now drop a couple of notches??

Ed
Depends on who holds the national record. I am sure all of them hit home runs at home in play time gaves. It is like the fastest car. Many have broken the record, but when it counts is when it is according to the rules of fast cars and duly recorded.
So, Bonds is the greatest HR hitter and I do mean is. Before he broke the record of Aaron, it was Aaron was the greatest HR hitter even though not even playing anymore. I think you will agree with that Ed Sutton?

I would like a serious answer. While your at it here is another one.

Phl 3:17 Brethren, join in following my example, and note those who so walk, as you have us for a pattern.

How or why would Paul be telling them to follow his example as a pattern for how to walk, if Paul was sinning much more than they were? It just makes no sense.

Paul, did not make sin a practice, Steven. Read Romans 7. He gave in to it because of the weakness of his flesh.

The evil that I would not, that I do.

You are just plain wrong and if Paul meant present time of the chiefest of sinners, he should of said also, the chiefest of hypocrits.

How can you preach to your members not to sin??? As Stevens2006 said, don't make not sense to rational and senseable people.

BBob,

No, he should not have said chief of hypocrites, Bob. Because he did n ot hold on to that sin as a lifestyle. He fell into sin,

There is a difference, Bob.

btw... Ok, Bob... you are wrong.

You cross yourself bad. How could he be present time chief of sinners, if he did not sin except to complain of a thorn in his flesh??

You make no sense whatsoever Sfic.

BBob,

Go read your Bible, Bob. The thorn in the flesh was not sin.

That doesn't answer the question. If as you say he was the greatest sinner at that time, why would he be telling them to follow his example in his walk? Plus you didn't answer the other verses I posted, Why was Paul not put away if he was a greater sinner than those he was speaking about?

could of been a lack of faith, which is sin. again, you speak as a foolish man. Your understanding of the scripture is lacking. Sorry to be so plain, but I can't seem to reach you.

Catch on to what, this?
So I'd say the question is, and will always remain 'open" as to who is/was the best HR hitter ever, up 'til now.?

The question is not whether Paul is the chief of sinners or not, he clearly says he is, the question is when was he.

It is not I speaking as a foolish man, Bob.

Nowhere does God say that Paul's asking for the thorn to be removed is a lack of faith.

Bob, ya gotta add to the Word of God to come up with your theory. Dire consequences to that, my friend.

I will not argue with you henceforth on the matter.

Paul said the old man was dead. That meant he no longer considered the past sins against him even though he mentioned them from time to time as a witness to what God did for him.

Whe n he said 'of whom I am chief,' he was speaking of himself AFTER his Damascus Road experience, not before.

I am out of this thread.

Doesn't mean, Paul didn't remember them!!

Also, seems that Paul was impatient to wait on the Lord for the removal of the thorns, which would of been sin. That which is not of faith is sin. You don't know if it was sin or not, it is God we sin against. not SFic.

So, we still have those who believe that Christians can be the most horendeous of sinners, because they believe Paul was.

Here are a couple more verses that don't make complete sense, if Paul's was living the life as a the chief sinner at the time.

1Th 2:3 For our exhortation did not come from error or uncleanness, nor was it in deceit.

2Cr 4:2 But we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness nor handling the word of God deceitfully, but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.

Let me be clear as to the point you were trying to make. Are you trying to raise in question whether Paul was indeed the chief of sinners or not?

Seems to me Ed enjoys a "putdown" unless it is him on the recieving end. Maybe Ed does not know that is what draws the negative comments his way.
