Thats cause they want to be loved and inturn express their love. While my wife is church adverse, she totally loves the lord.....funny how a bad church can sour you but the Love of Christ continues on.
Same for my wife.

Let me tell you about my friend Darrell. 1st his ex wife & her family never truly accepted Chuck.....he wasn't a Catholic or an Italian from New Jersey....he is a Texan and a Marine & so there was always criticisms. He also wasn't as educated which bothered the in laws. The wife took up with interrational affairs & the in-laws blamed him for it. Bad fit Bad fit....but I counseled him to patch things up with the wife....after all the Lord hated divorce. And for a time Chuck tried but she wasn't having it. They divorced & he got partial custody of their two daughters. Both of who just got married last month in a joint wedding. Chuck is also remarried & practices his Faith & has a new job that pays him better. So I don't understand the "Mistake question?"
His point are valid, I'd personally say that most lost people don't fit in church because its an other-worldly gathering of the redeemed.
Too often in our attractional model, seeker sensitive based churches we forget there is a dynamic at play that we can't see and something we can't necessarily understand. Those who are not in Christ have no unifying Spirit with those who are in Christ when it comes to the church. We must be careful about that.
I'd also point out that our churches are intended to be cultural, economic, and social crossroads where folks from diverse backgrounds and lives find a common table to gather around and enjoy fellowship. That is certainly odd for many people.
In light of your own views it should be obvious. Do you think he is heading for the same experiences you and your wife have had or do you approve of his attendance?
I only have a tablet right now so I'm not going to get too long in my responses. As far as a fellowship tellimg someone their child is in Hell, well that does not mean that is an error every fellowship would fall into. I would suggest that would be an isolated incident.
Isolated or not it will sour the parents to that church.
And again you're playing the blame game. In-laws are an easy target, as are ex spouses. Is your friend, in your view, faultless in the divorce?
God bless.
LOL..... Chucks past relationship with his wife is none of my business. Both he & She have moved on & thats fine. My relationship with the man is ongoing....in fact we both gotta get out on the links this Spring (thanks for reminding me). One thing you must know is I have never put myself in a position to judge the guy & I wont do it for you either....just know the guy is a friend & a christian brother ....so......lets leave it there.:wavey:
Whats not to approve of.....if the man has found the church he is comfortable with. Ive also attended services with him in support.

But you can judge his wife and in-laws? lol
Glad you encourage him. Hope that becomes reciprocal. Understand I am not saying you have to go to a fellowship. Just saying it would be wise to be careful how we influence people about it. The articles I've seen present an antibiblical view in my opinion. Its just natural that believers fellowship together.
No fishing, eh?
God bless.
No fishing,.
They do....and I think I told you beforehand ....they all go to the Outback steak house together!
When I go out to eat (a rarity) it's usually some small community business where I know my money will go back into the community. Unfortunately in this economy these places are becoming fewer and fewer. I do that when I meet with someone for bible study also. Or they come to my house for coffee and whatever we got....peanut butter goes along way ya know.
Would you eat a fish coming from New Jersey????? PLEASE!!!!!!
What kind of fish are native to New Jersey? I realize that's a loaded question.
Maybe not. Doesn't mean I wouldn't fish. Here in Va. Rivers are cleaner than they were 50 years ago according to an old guy I spoke to. Thay use to dump the offal from slaughter houses into it. Is it that bad?Would you eat a fish coming from New Jersey????? PLEASE!!!!!!
Rivers are generally cleaner here now than they were fifty years ago mainly because of federal regs pertaining to wastewater treatment and strip mining. I know, I've fished the KY River all my life.
The fish won't be safe if you catch them.We have to go somewhere else to insure the fish are safe.
The fish won't be safe if you catch them.
Oh, you mean that the fish are safe enough for you to eat. ;-)

Years ago I used to all the time, as I grew up less than 100 yards from a nice 60-acre pond in the Jersey Highlands. I moved away in 1971, but Google Earth shows almost no shorefront development since that time, as about half the shoreline is covered by a no-development covenant and most of the other half grew houselots during the 1940s and 50s. I'm sure the two beaches there have frequent water tests, and they remain heavily used. Are there advisories statewide against eating fish, or just from certain waters?
